what they are

a park heater is a device, that will warm up the cabin of the vehicle, before you get into it, so that you do not have to suffer frost bite until you get going along the road. they can be operated from a timer or a remote control from you bed. they are great Very Happy Very Happy

Ah!! You mean a cabin pre-heater Very Happy

A few folks over on the D3 site (www.disco3.co.uk) have attempted similar things and although you can get half the job done, it appears the whole timer capability has eluded people. Have a search over on D3 - you'll get the gist of what is capable.

getting it fitted

have been speeking with a chap near edinburgh who is an authorised dealer for the webastow heater unit. the rrs has this sytem already fitted, but will only warm the engine. with an upgrade kit, you can make it warm (pre-heat) the cabin, so looks the the rrs when nit arrives will be getting it done, hate cold morning Sad , like warm cars to get into Very Happy

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Arctic Frost

Not quite, both the D3 and RRS TDVx models have an FBH fitted that provides additional heating of the coolant below ambients of 5degC to provide good heater output.

This FBH (fuel burning heater) is a Webasto unit and for certain markets (notably Russia), LR worked with Webasto to develope a timer for the FBH that will run the FBH at the set time and provide a pre-heat capability for the engine only. There is no capabilty on the kit to run either the climate control interior fan or move the climate control air flaps to enable the heat to be moved into the cabin.

LR don´t market the kit in the UK but have allowed Webasto to market it.

I had a Webasto heater on my previous D2 and have the LR kit fitted to my D3 (both fitted by JE). The D3 kit is pretty good and of course you do get istant heat as soon as the climate control comes live when you start - but it can´t replicate the dry, de-iced windows and toasty dry cabin before you get in that the D2 install could.

The D3 kit is approx 250 GBP vs the 1000 GBP for the full heater install on a D2, this is because a large chunk of the hardware and the fuel supply is already installed at the factory on the D3/RRS.

The issue is down to the complexity of the climate control on the D3 preventing a simple interface.

Various options have been developed by D3 forum members for different methods (eg mobile phone) initiation of the engine pre-heater but no success to date in getting the cabin heated before engine start.

If anyone has any specific questions I can help with then please either post or PM (I am simonsi on the D3 forum too) - although I have no experience with the GSM trigger etc, best to look on the D3 forum for that info. Cheers

Simon
