Yep happens a lot, especialy on righthand corners when you are over taking, I drive a lefthand drive TDV8, the ACC is in the same place on both RHD and LHD cars.

I've a vague idea dealers can disable ACC by turning off the module, but I don't think there's a user function to do so... |

If there is no option to switch the automatic off (either by the driver or the dealer) then maybe you could place something infront of the radar sensor mounted on the front bumper so as to block it from detecting objects ahead. This will disable it as and when you want to. Just a thought. |

Would that not send it into panic mode and slam the brakes on and ask for the driver to intervine? Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh Clan Cameron |

I would have thought so. It would surely see the "something" as a VERY close object and either not work at all or apply the brakes. Paul RRS TDV8 - Stornoway Grey, Irory Leather with Dark Zebrano, Privacy Glass, Tow Pack. 1967 Cobra 427 S/C 1951 Vincent Comet 2001 Harley Davidson Fat Boy |

I don't think it will slam the brakes especially if you're just starting the vehicle, until and unless you're covering the radar sensor whilst driving at 100 MPH! But yes, you may be right. It will probably warn you of an obstruction at the sensor and deactivate ACC altogether. There are materials out there that absorb radar waves (rather than reflect them), so if you could find some tape or some such that didn't reflect the waves back again then there might be some legs in that. Where the hell you'd get such a thing I don't know - your local arms provider maybe? |

Prestik or BluTack (sp?) works for the PDC, maybe it will work for the ACC too?

If you cover the ACC sensor, the cruise doesn't work any more. I found this out last week when the ACC was covered in snow and it wouldn't switch on. it should have a switch really for just normal cruise. |

Surely this can be disabled by removing the fuse or relay for the ACC unit? |
