Thanks Phantom, didnt know that about France. Embarassed

But assuming you could find 20" chains. Can you actually use them Question Is there enough clearance in normal ride height Question

Just wondered cos I now realise you can get 20" winter tyres. TDV6 - gone

Josh if the snow is that bad then surely you could lift the car into off-road height and lock it there to maintain the clearance - you are not likely to be driving very fast if the road conditions are such that you need the chains. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I tried to fit snow chains to my RRS (255/50/R19) to the front tyres, but they were touching the suspetion, especially when turning the wheel left or right.....
Whaty can I do? Is it correct to fit them in the front tyres or the back?

Josh, most winters we get less snow here in the central belt than the SE of England - I've never owned any snow chains in the 28 years I've been driving. If the snow is that bad I stay at home! I can only remember 3 winters in that time when we might have needed snow chains here. Sure you can stay home ... but if you want to go skiing ... you want snow ... loads of snow ... and where's loads snow ... you need snowchains Wink

So, chains can't be fitted because they would touch the suspension, that's probably why LR only sells chains for 17" wheels, because they provide better clearance. 08.5 RRS TDV6 HSE Java Black/Alpaga - Cold Climate Pack - Privacy Glass - Bluetooth - Sunroof - 20" wheels - Rubber Floor mats.

Thanks shmoogle. This is what I knew also. Only front wheels for 4WD cars. It is mentioned also in the car's manual. But the dealer tried to convince me that I should put them in the back wheels.......

I thought they did them for 19" wheels Confused

Surely not Question Otherwise most Alpine countries wouldn't let you get very far in your 4x4. And France require them fitted to front and back. TDV6 - gone

The 19" with the 255/55/R19 MT/R tyres are taller than the 20" and so are 255/50/R19, 35.1mm and 9.6mm respectivly Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh
