Continental tyres

My wife has informed me that we need a couple of tyres for our RRS. We have 20" wheels and the stealer has qouted us something like £265 + vat per tyre.

I am due back in the uk in the next couple of days and was wandering if anyone can suggest anywhere cheaper that may be local to me in sunny Swindon.

Hope you all have a good Xmas

Steve

Micheldever Tyres always seems to be highly regarded in the motoring press and cannot be too far from Swindon, but you can get good discounts at any of the KwikFit type places although they may have to get the tyres in on an "overnight" basis which was how the local specialists had to get my Pirelli Scorpian Snow and Ice, but I still got 25% discount and all the other usual things like balancing and valves thrown in.
You don't have to stick with the Conti's, so long as you have 2 Conti's on one end of the car and the 2 others on the other. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

I've just changed all four boots on my motor.

I got 25,000 miles out of the original Pirelli Scorpions and have replaced them with Goodyear Wranglers. If it wasn't for the weather I could probably get a few more miles out of the old tyres. They still have about 3 - 4mm of tread left but with winter approaching fast I wanted a bit more tread just incase. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Had the Goodyear Wranglers on both my Freelander and the FFRR and they were excellent tyres, wore well, quiet, were good in the winter weather (the FFRR took me almost to the top of the Corrie Yarrick pass on them when there was 5" of snow and it was -19C on the summit) and were excellent for gentle/moderate off-roading too, even though they are only Mud and Snow tyres. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Couldn't agree more Tim. My first Freelander was fitted with Goodyear Wranglers and they seemed to last for ever, if I remember correctly they covered between 25 and 30 thousand miles before being replaced.

The second Freelander came with Michelin tyres and they were still going strong when I got rid of the motor. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Embarassed Embarassed The Pirelli Snow and Ice that I have just bought are the first on road tyres I have bought in years, I have been changing the cars before I get anywhere near the end of the tyre life...................... Even with the Defender I changed the BF Goodrich AT's at 59000 miles when they were down to 5mm, no good offroad but I sold them on to a guy who needed some new tyres but couldn't afford a set of brand new and he never took them offroad. I replaced those 2 years ago and now I have changed the replacements for a set of MTR's and have 2 folks trying to outbid each other for the AT's that have only run 5000 miles and look like new! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
