I use a small company based in Sheffield for my broadband, I've been with them for 3 years now - since we got broadband here - and the service has always been good. Costs me £9.99 a month, 50p discount a month for each new referral who I recommend and takes up the service, no limit on downloads and they send it down the line to you as fast as your line can handle it for no extra charge - I get 2mb/s here but I have a friend who lives near to a modern exchange, pays £13.99 a month (I referred him so I get the discount!) and gets a much faster speed. The same company is also offering bundled phone and internet but it is conditional on you having a BT line 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Is that Plusnet, Tim? They're who I use at home too.... they are fantastic and often score highest in customer service surveys. The thing with NTL seems to be that if it works, it works... but god forbid it should ever break. The customer service is famously complete sh*t.

use plusnet too - had some problems with connection in the past, and the tech support personnel actually know what their talking about. Back when plusnet were a small company one of their tech guys used to support via adslguide forums - very smart move (not sure if they still do that know they are so much bigger)

Plusnet was my prefered choice, until the service went pear shaped,

lost connection, slow download you name I had it,

left them and went to BT themselves, but now i hear BT have bought them too or at least a lions share of the company. Question

Yeah, BT bought them out quite a while ago although they still operate independently in terms of management team.

It all depends how far you live from the exchange, and if its got copper or alloy in the ground . remember the adsl spirals around the copper wire and the copper wire is only for your tele line. bt only guarantee speech on the line as i work for bt
