Data Disc Music

Much posted on the topic of music........

Just burnt a data CD of MP3 tracks, 7 albums worth cut @ 192Kbps averaging 82MB per album. Plays perfectly, the header in the dot matrix display states 'Data'. You simply then start at the first album and flick through the tracks, at the end of that album it moves onto the next.

In terms of writing the CD, don't use applications such as Media Player etc. simply use windows CD writing wizard (if using a PC) and select the data CD option.

The only obvious issue is keeping track of which album is which however if you know your collection well this shouldn't be too much of an issue.

If you rip 6 CD's in this way you will achieve 40 odd albums!!! Currently: Carbon Black 535d

It IS a superb thing, having so many albums in the 6 discs means not needing to hook up the ISpod. Cool L319 D4 HSE

I'm spending more time in the RRS now and was planning on hooking up the iPod via the Belkin doobrie that has the built-in charger and line out "amp"... but have found good old Radio 2 to be quite the novelty. I think I'm turning into my dad though, Terry Wogan and Johnny Walker are now my friends Wink

I also listen to Radio 2 though I find that Sarah Kennedy is my morning favourite, as I am often in the car very early (6am starts). I hate Terry Wogan on the radio and think that Johny Walker's music taste is shocking recently, I prefer it when Stuart Maconnie stands in for him.

I also enjoy Jeremy Vine and Steve Wright in the afternoon!

I noticed my parents have moved over to Saga FM now, I hope it will be a long time before I end up there! L319 D4 HSE

I am indeed Jay - sound is very good. If you compromise some of the storage space for higher bit rate cut tracks it sounds even better. 320kbps sounds excellent but you only achieve around 4 to 5 albums per disc Currently: Carbon Black 535d

Yes, it's a lot more 30-something friendly these days than it used be when I was a kid. My folks have always listened to it... but it's a lot more mainstream now rather than the endless flow of Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller and Ella Fitzgerald that it used to be (not that there's much wrong with that). I do like Wogan on the radio though... he makes me laugh.

Agreed - although I only get to listen during morning and evening drives now... was a big XFM listener but coverage isn't great unless you're well inside the M25 (or in Manchester).

I think Radio 2 is the only station I have tuned into my car Embarassed
I listen to Wogan on the way to work and must admit, I rather enjoy his "Janet & John" stories Laughing
I also listen to Jeremy Vine if I'm out and about, but I find his sensationalistic style very irritating. So much so that I've felt compelled to email him on a coupel of occasions.....sad, I know Embarassed
I generally listen to the iPod and I haven't yet got around to writing some music CDs.

Anyone tried a DVD? in the manual it says a double sided DVD may jam. Does that mean normal single sided ones will be OK in the player? me wonders...

Jonathon Woss is pretty good on a Saturday morning although he plays mostly David Bowie!!!
Not sure if it is still played but the blaggers guide straight after Mr. Woss was highly entertaining!!!

May havge a bit of a search tonight for the blagger guide......very, very funny. Last one I listened too was the blaggers guide to Glastonbury Currently: Carbon Black 535d
