Had an amazing time, definately going to sign up for the Level 1 course.

Pics in the gallery......got a fair amount of film as well.

Instructor was excllent - Adrian Whitehead, he had the patients of a saint. He showed lots of neat little tips with the car, like controling the speed of the HDC with the cruise control buttons and over riding the TC and ABS with left foot braking (yes, left foor breaking in an auto!)
Another good one is setting the Terrain Response to Sand; this de-restricts the throttle - a by product of this setting is that it gives you quiker off the line acceleration! (not to be used on the road of course )

The one thing that I had no idea about was the extended off road height. If the car senses it is grounded, it raises the suspension to an even higher setting than standard off road height - once in this mode you can then manualy raise it even further! (see pic in the gallery, car looks like it is on stilts) The D3 does extend its off road heaight if grounded but apparently it doesn't have the additional oppotion to then raise further - RRS has one up on the D3 off road

I was amazed at what this car is capable of; suspension travel, wading depth, ability to climb (our car had standard road tyres) and general overall control - the 4x4 mode of the SatNav screen truly comes into its own, the ability to see the direction of the front wheels along with indication of individual wheel height etc.

I could go on but I will bore you all to death; one last point though - to never experience what this car is capable of and to never take it off road would be nothing short of sacrilege - taking it properly off road underlines to you that the majority of other cars in this niche are simply fakes.....and it still performs this well on the road. You can take your X5 and stick it where the sun don't shine!!

Glad you had a good day and you will enjoy the level 1 - its superb. I've just completed a Level 2 - but they make you do that in a Defender 110, they even disable the traction control! Still it was a brilliant day and you learn a lot about planning your route etc.

Excellent pictures, I hope the wife will come along with me and take some pics whenever we go.

Is there a way to trick or invoke the extended height of the EAS? How did you get it to that height? Did you ground the car? L319 D4 HSE

The D3 has this facility as well, presume activating it is exactly the same as the RRS.

Additional lift while in Extended mode.

Correct RRUK - the car was grounded, once grounded the extended height started. We did though have to drop the car into access height whilst in mud ruts in order to get the bottom of the car onto dirt......... Currently: Carbon Black 535d
