Steering control buttons interferrence

In the last few days, I have noticed that my steering multifunction buttons are inteferring with each other.

When I press the volume control buttons, the phone starts dialling. When I try to change radio stations, the radio cd volume goes up/down.

The phone (6230 on bluetooth), does not connect/disconnect using the buttons on the steering or dash.

These problems are not constant. It works properly when it wants to.

Has anyone experienced this?

Sounds like you may have a couple of damaged wires inside the steering wheel boss.

Doing my best Mystic Meg impression: "I foresee a trip to your local dealership in the not too distant future" Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

It's probably a bad - get a load of this name - circular cassette rotary coupler and clock spring in your steering column (a sort-of circular contact that coordinates all the switches found on your steering wheel.) It can also mess up your cruise control buttons. I have only heard of one or two cases on the US forum, both times the control was replaced under warranty.

Thanks guys. Any chance the main dealer will try to say that its the little accident with my front fender that's caused the steering buttons to start acting up? 2006 4.4 HSE, Java black, Alpaca beige int, super charged grill and vents, dvd headrest, fridge, bluetooth, etc
