Hello all.... .And possibly my introduction first . I am the chap mentioned by Tim on the Forum. Basher is the name. I visit the site fairly regularly to read of the adventures and news of you guys with those rather nice Range Rover thingies.
I drive a 300 tdi Land Rover Defender registered in 96, this has been a superb vehicle and as you may know we run the forest drives in West Argyll.
My 90 is a bit worse the wear after 6 years organising and drivIng in the Forests in Lochgilphead.
So whilst still keeping our trusty 90 we took possesion about six months ago of a brand new Transit Defender CSW.
My wife and I have been off roading for more than 18 years and have travelled many countries on our summer holidays and always in a Land Rover of one model or the other. We tookl the newbie Landy on our summer trip to France and what a tremendous machine this is.
Gutsy , fast and very quiet. Superb off road with very little between our 300 Tdi and the Tranny performance wise, albeit the new TRanny is a lot more comfortable. Anyhow enough of my jibbering Im off to reply to the thread I noticed which prompted me to join your excellent forum and had to respongd to on the Off Roading page Re Good off roading abroad

Hope you are all sorted for our next visit to the happy hunting grounds, you Landlubbers are in for the usual Basher rock hauling championships. Some of the tracks whats new are in need of some TLC.

I know you are joshing me with regard to parting with the Tranny it emptied the old bankbook no end paying for a lowly 90 I also know how much you enjoyed your drive in the Tranny and that was a cheepo hardtop.. It was also your part recomendation of the great performance of Said Tranny that kept me from taking up the offer of a test drive courtesy of LR and wited for our own vehicle delivery.

Thanks to all the guys for the welcome. Tim will no doubt post up the coming adventures in the Superb Lochgilphead Forest Paradise...Possibly a bit to rough and tumble for some of you chaps and your very shiny Rangies
