Try airing down to 15-18 psi next time, you will get a lot better traction and less "squirming" on soft sand. Yes, your tires will look almost flat. Trust me, it works. Bring a good compressor for when you get out of it!

i would have gone lower on the psi but I had a pretty crappy compressor so I thought I would try 30 and go lower if necessary. I was too busy driving to get a pic of freshwater road but attached is a pic to show I was really there

I finished it off the next day with a trip straight home. 1100 km's in 12.5 hours. Included 3 stops, one to wash the car down. Could have almost done it on one tank! |

Red, see my post here http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic8034.html i was sorely tempted to attempt the single tank trip, i live less than 10 mins drive from the end of the F3. Was up there looking to buy a property around Tewantin, Peraigan, Noosa only 2 weeks ago..Is yours a V6 or V8 ?? I was unaware of any local beach driving options in the vicinity maybe next time.. Hi red, just read your post regards finding traction at the last moment. I think you'll find your RRS was bottomed out, in that case theTerrain Response 'detects' this and raises the vehicle a further 23mm in the 'Extended' mode IIRC this would then provide you with the added traction by distributing the weight back onto the tyres not the underside of the vehicle...

Hi Guy, You could be right. It didn't feel that deep but it is conceivable it had gradually dug itself down to the axles. I just kept the wheels gently spinning and never completely lost momentum. cheers, Anthony TDV6, MYO7 Java with Ivory leather, 19 inch wheels |

Spent the day with the Range Rover Club of NSW doing some Sand Driving at Stockton beach, excellent day One quick snap of the wife driving into the bowl.. very steep, camera angle does not do it justice, one D3 had to be dug out.. .
