I believe in telling people about good customer service so wanted to share my positive dealer experience.

In March this year I took delivery of a new TDV8 RRS from Guy Salmon in Thames Ditton. Initially I was very happy with the car. However, when I first washed it after a couple of weeks I was shocked to realise that there was a significant paint defect. I'd chosen Stornoway Grey, but it looked like they had painted one half of the car (from the driver’s door forward) in a different tone of grey to the back half of the car. In direct sunlight it was very noticeable and I quickly took it back to the dealer for the technicians to look at the paintwork. Everyone was surprised that this got missed during the factory and dealer inspection and I was also surprised as I always have a good look at a car on collection. But you needed to stand back about 6 feet to really see the colour contrast. They measured the paint thickness to rule out a re-spray and everyone scratched their head as they had not seen such a problem before. Apparently the cars are painted in one process with the doors on, so its was difficult to understand how this happened.

Anyway LR and the dealer offered to re-spray the car, but I frankly did not want a new car re-sprayed, so they accepted my request to change the car, although I needed to wait 6 months due to the shortage of the TDV8's.

I was sad to see the car go in one way, because aside from the paint issue, the car was flawless. Not one thing fell off or needed fixing during my 6 months of ownership (which was not my experience with my previous 5 new BMW's).

Anyway on Saturday I collected my new TDV8. Exactly the same specification and all the same colour! Some minor specification improvements and I’m happy that Bluetooth now fully supports the phonebook function.
