Fake Supercharged - why?

Now I fully understand that different grills/black badges etc. can smarten the appearance of an RRS but why completely fake an S/C

There is a black RRS in Twyford that has completely faked the Supercharged look, right down to the Supercharged badges. Except its a TDV6 - complete with the TDV6 sound and the downturned exhaust ends under the rear scuttle.

Why? Everyone in the know knows its a TDV6 and every not in the know will be enlightened once the throttle is pressed and not a lot happens.

Am I missing something?

i was going to ask the same question - alot of people seem to have supercharged badged, non super charged cars.

I dont understand that bit. Wheels, grills etc I buy into but badging? Its like the people who have M badges on there 3.18 BMW's

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

I added Black and Silver badges to my TDV8 simply for the reason stated earlier. I dont think the Green and Gold badges look very good. I wish I had the bottle to attempt to swap out the one on the steering wheel, but death by airbag doesnt appeal to me.

I n all honesty I dont think this is the same as people adding M badges to BMW's, more people are familiar with M cars and recongnise it as being a bit sad. I think only Land Rover owners notice different colour badges. Infact I only notived when my wife told me the supercharged grill I had on my old TDV6 had a differnt colour to the badge at the back.

I actually had an M5 that was tottaly debadged, four exhaustes and bemused boy racers in my wake was all I needed.

Ian,

Its not the people that change the LandRover badges for the blackones,I can understand the styling/cosmetic bit. Its the ones that have the "SUPERCHARGED" badges that I am wondering about

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I suppose some folks think if they are going to get the grilles, vents, black badges and 20s - they might as well go the whole hog. Not that I agree with the logic.... Rolling Eyes

'Cos it's cheaper.

£60k (+) is a lot of money for a car and an amount that a lot of people cannot afford - I personally think it very reasonable to get what you can and have it how you like. Confused

The S/C is a highly impressive car and something of a legend. The TDV6/8 is an excellent car too which can be enhanced and perfected with the glorious touches added on the S/C Thumbs Up

Not that we've done it though - we've got a D3. Much better than any RRS...! Whistle Wink "CY from DISCO3"

Does it really bother you that much, my life is not that sad that putting badges on cars would bother me if I see a car with badges on it ie AMG,M3,RS4,RS6, I can't see the problem Rolling Eyes

You have to remember not every one has the money for an m3,SC,RS4 so by badgeing it up makes them feel good then fair play
