Would you trust it in the outback?

Hi all! I've been reading posts on this forum for a while but have never posted. Anyway, the TDV8 will be launched here (Kenya) soon - I've been waiting for it before buying a sport. However, some of my friends with old FFRRs and LR3s have been trying to put me off by scaring me with stories about how the car will leave me stranded with collapsed suspension in the African outback surrounded by lions......what do you think - are they just jealous or do they have a point? Bear in mind we have no roadside assistance and 1 dealer in the whole country.

Cheers,
Leo

Leo - if your friends are using LR3's and with no problem then the RRS is unlikely to have any problems. Remember the LR3 and RRS are basically the same car. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Your friends are scaremongering, Leo... Wink Cars DO fail, it's true... and it MIGHT fail whilst you are surrounded by Lions in the middle of the outback, but the same could be said of any car. So it's all about risk... as VA says - if the Discos survive, there's no reason why the RRS should be any different.

Thanks VA, that was a quick reply! actually some of the LR3 owners have had problems with air suspension but I'm assuming Landrover must have improved the design or components by now?

Of course a close up picture of you checking the suspension whilst a lion devours your wife would be a good picture! Wink 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

My first D3 had 2 compressors go, but they didn't stop the car going, it just meant you couldn't change height. The second D3 is now 18 months old and hasn't had a single problem (on or off road) in 26K miles. Plenty of guys in SA do long trips with their D3s too

Pelyma - when the compressors went did the height drop to access height or stay where it was?

that's ok then - man you should see our 'roads'.....wouldn't like to drive on the bump stops. I had to swap the alloy wheels on my old 3-series bm for steel ones because they can be straightened with a sledge hammer, whereas alloy just cracks. Evil or Very Mad
