Newbie - RRS S/C 1st Edition

Hi new to the forum.

I'm thinking of purchasing a S/C 1st Edition.

Can someone please advise the sort of mpg I can expect (mainly 60mph, no stops).

Are there any major reliability issues I should be aware of? The vehicle needs a new tyre as the NSF is scrubbed on the outside.

Basically I know this car will not be cheap to own and run, but will it be plagued with large repair bills when the warranty is exceeded.

What sort of money 30k miles, black / ivory, 1st Edition, stuning condition.

Thanks in advance

S/C achieve about 15mpg but best get an owner to confirm this. You will have 6 months left to find any faults - I would advise you to take out the LR extended warranty as you don't know the history of this car. It's difficult to pin point any age problems with the RRS as the oldest ones are less than 3 YO. What should you pay? probably late £30K - the value of S/C is not holding up since the TDV8 came along. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Thanks, was intending to extend the warranty. I spoke with the dealer that has serviced it and basically it seems ok, new anti roll bar bushes (7.5k miles), new rear discs and pads (15k), new front pads (15k), new alloys (corroded / pitted).

New rear discs, whats that about?

How much hassle is the DR pack its seems more problematic than its worth?

I chanced upon this forum and if I read it correctly it looks as if I'm buying a whole heap of trouble thats depreciating faster than a lead balloon.

Thanks

No not a problem car - but the very nature of forums raises the problems people suffer from. There are many many thousand of owners with RRS's that havn't had a single problem. I would think the SC will probably level out re depreciation and if you can source a car at a good price than depreciation isn't a huge problem.

The RRS really is a great car! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

SC MPG :-

80 MPH with cruise control - About 17.5 mpg
Hammering it in the countryside - 8 mpg

My average - Town and motorway 15.4 mpg

Petrol is cheaper than diesel Thumbs Up
I reckon that it costs me about an extra £600-800 a year over the diesel. Well worth it IMHO.

Also, the SC is fully loaded at birth. All the gizmos, best performance etc etc. FAB! 2022 P440e AB

Thats kind of an unanswerable question - no one can predict if your car will have any problems

My honest opinion, if you are this worried about it, then maybe this isnt the car for you. All enjoyment from the car will be removed if you get paranoid about what could go wrong

Tough question.

Mine has been in for :-

1) knocking suspension, and is now again
2) corroding underbody (just me being a bit para)
3) Some paint that rubbed off due to ill fitting rear screen

All under warranty.

Major stuff like the engine is bomb proof. Opinion is that it is detuned for torque so not damaged with high revs etc. Dynamic response could be a worry in the long term though.

But I love it. Thumbs Up 2022 P440e AB

Thanks this is the kind of info. that I was looking for. Suspension and steering gear take a battering in a heavy car like this and I suspected ther may be some issues there.

I did not expect someone to be able to predict when things would fail but knew there could be known issues which you have clarified.

Dynamic Response is also a concern for me.

The one I buy wont do many miles as its for the wife and I'll have a shot at the weekend!! Very Happy

Here is one I made earlier.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pajKrJVAyMuZZpUqYNniUIg

Assuming i've done the calcs correctly, my RRS SC will cost £800 a year more to run than the 2.7.

Sure it will depreciate faster too, just depends what you pay, how long you keep it etc. 2022 P440e AB
