If you get a dealer to do it? Or independently?

So it's actually cheaper to get it factory-fitted if you find yourself in that position.... the factory cost is £350 inc VAT, and it looks better!

sounds like it came incomplete on the spec, and they sorted it out. Good outcome in that they did it, but poor form IMHO that they didnt feel the need to tell you. |

The dealer told me the car had just arrived from Land Rover and had been ordered for the MD of the dealership but he was willing to put it on the forecourt as LR had now sourced him a V8. I checked the car and it was un registered with 9 miles on the clock, so obviously was brand new. The dealer proceeded to tell me the spec of the car and when calculating the price I had to pay he added the options from the LR list (Including Privacy Glass) at no time did he say that any of it was aftermarket fit. This is where I feel I was misled. I was willing to pay for the factory fit privacy glass as it is coloured glass NOT a film. I would not have been willing to pay the same for film that had been applied to the car by a 3rd party before I had bought the car - after all - the dealer didn't give me any extra on my Audi because it had various options fitted to it (all of which were factory fits by the way)! I simply got the book price for that basic model/mileage. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black 2013 Evoque 5 Door Pure Tech SD4 - Orkney Grey with Panoramic Roof (Mrs E's new baby) GONE - RRS - 3.0 TDV6 HSE - Santorini (2010) GONE - RRS - 2.7 TDV6 HSE - Java Black (2007) GONE - Porsche Boxster S - 3.2 - Black |

Exactly. It's a principle thing more than a financial one... and if an aftermarket tint was as good as the factory job then there's not much to argue about other than the fact your dealer is a lying little . But the fact of the matter is, the film fitting really doesn't work very well on the RRS. It's not like they could have used a "better" firm or anything - it simply looks inferior, to use VA's words.

That wouldn't be a cheap way out.... although worth trying for in the circumstances.
