I have read a lot on the forums about the difference between the Factory Fit & Aftermarket Privacy Glass. The one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that with the Factory Fit Glass you can't see the Rear Window heated elements or the side window arial elements. This causes me some concern as on my RRS you clearly CAN see both elements. I am also sure that around the elements there are some small areas that look raised, as if it is a dark film applied to the glass over the elements. This points to the tint being aftermarket, yet my car was brand new from the LR dealer and I was charged the option cost for the privacy glass as it had "already been spec'd on the car"!! Is there a definative check (such as a code on the Glass) that will tell me which I have? If it turns out it's aftermarket then I will be looking for a refund as I was clearly told it was the LR Privacy Glass Option. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

The definitive way to check is to check the mfr mark on the glass. I forget exactly what it was called but it was a tradename that led you to believe it was tinted glass... Solaglass or Sun-something.... |

Hmm, the plot thickens. Optikool was the word I had on mine now that you remind me of it - but your rear quarters definitely don't look like they are factory glass  Maybe the Optikool name isn't to do with the tinted glass after all. TB might be able to confirm what to look for on the glass if there's an identifier for it.

Hmm, Interesting, Any idea what the option cost is for the Factory Fit? I can't find it on the LR website. If I can get it then I can compare it with what they charged on my order form for the car. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
