Newbie looking to order a new rr sport but which spec????

Hello great site!! just after a bit of advice

Im looking at the tdv6 s entry model at the moment the reason for this is im not too fussed about heated seats, parking sensors, auto dim mirrors, rain sensor/ washers, auto headlights fridge etc etc and im fairly handy with cars as i own a company whom upgrade / supply parts etc so have contacts for many upgrades very cheaply etc. So my plan is to buy a black or grey entry model 2.7tdv6 s model with the optional leather interior then carry out the following usual upgrades my self to make it look and feel like i want:-

20" stormer wheels
Super charger grills
rear Tints
side steps
retrofit Xenon`s lights
clear side repeators

Now heres my worry - ive checked out the landrover spec in the website most main important things are the same as far as i can see on paper engine and performance wise & safety features whether its an s or se. Now what i have noticed is that the tdv6 s model lacks things like xenons, rain sensor, auto headlights, no fog lamps in the front bumper, no heated seats, no gps roof anenna. or flip in mirrors - Ok so that doesnt sound like too much a big deal to me, i mean id like to bumper fogs and the gps anntenna does look cool but im sure i can source them later

What i wanting to know is are theyre any other differences i should know about as landrover arent too specific as in body wise or gadget wise ie different bumpers? or un colour coded parts? different manual heaters? difference in interior/exterior trims, dash boards etc from the base tdv6 s model to the se models etc? Or are the only differences what ive already noted?

Basaically im a bit worried about buying the tdv6s model and it being lacking literally every little thing i hadnt thought about like many entry level cars do. Rolling Eyes

Also re dynamic response? is this fitted standard on all models 08 now or is it extra still? - Is it worth having as i read alot of people are having trouble with it knocking

Thankyou for any help im sure you can see what im trying to acertain here - the exact little differences between the models.

Andi Thumbs Up

Hi andi1

Some of the other guys will be able to run you through the specs but I would ask myself about the resale value.
I think you may take quite a hit on an S spec car even if it has been specced up
Might be worth a pm to our resident finance man Kam (have a look in the finance section) who knows the RRS market inside out and ask his opinion, he also sometimes is able to source some cars at very good prices.

Welcome to the site andi

I to would think about buying an S from the point of resale as Cliff said, but apart from that and the differences that you have all ready stated things are pretty much the same, at least the body is the same, not sure about about DR being standard, I wouldnt bother with it, i have had two vehicles, one without DR and now this one with DR and i can honestly say i cant really tell the difference, and i drive/drove them quite hard.

Good luck with what ever you decide Thumbs Up

If you buy the S spec RRS it's not just the little luxuries you miss out on but things like the seats are not as good. The minimum you should buy is the SE. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

hi thanks for the response. The resale value really isnt an issue to me as im looking at business contract hire for the vehicle so i can offset some of the costs through my company.

Does anyone have knowledge on the nitty gritty i would be missing or different on the entry model "tdv6 s" apart from what ive already noted? Cool

I think i will also contact KAM to see what deal he can offer me on business contract hire deal.

Looking at the specs it seems nearly all can be fitted onto a S spec except the Xenons

http://www.landrover.co.uk/gb/en/Vehicles/...ptions.htm

I would think that most things could be retro fitted but if you do it yourself it'll affect your warranty. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Not sure if you'll get the memory seat option and electric motors on them. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Yes thanks ive just checked the landrover guide it says you do get the electrics seats Cool but the memory pack + elec lumber support is an option on both the s and se - The memory pack+ elec lumber isnt something im bothered about really either

Obviously if you want the upgrade brakes you will need to upgrade the 18 inch wheels to 19 or above. All these things are more costly to retro fit and by the time you've spec up a base model you might as well have ordered the SE. BTW Sat Nav is a must now on a car like the RRS. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Yes im wanting to upgrade the wheels to 20" but not planning on changing the brakes although i do deal with brembo direct through mitsubishi motors so may be able to source the brakes at a later date should i wish, the sat nav really isnt much use as i have my trust tom tom which i rely upon so thats not really of concern to me either.

If you contract hire a car and start adding all these bits to a car, the cost will go through the roof! better off buying and claiming back on the interest out of the deal, or just ordering a HSE in the first place..

yes kam i think i definately need to compare the price differences between them but looking at on the road price on paper its nearly 7k from the tdv6 s to tdv6 se, but i know these bits below which i want to add would cost me no more than £2000 - £2500 probably:-

20" stormer wheels
Super charger grills
rear Tints
side steps
retrofit Xenon`s lights
clear side repeators

The tints are so much better when you get the factory fitted ones. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
