maybe mine's on its way out - maybe? I just have to try it a few more times and then it locks ok - not really worked out what the problem is to be honest

mine makes no attempt to lock, no noise, nothing at all, just goes on to the first catch and thats it

Looks like soft close mechanism is jiggered (different from knackered) Off you go....
