Don't ever do errands for the wife

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

So the wife says to me... "can you just pop into Farnham for me and get those two cuddly toys?". I, being the caring and supporting husband that I am, agree. "That'll only take me 20 mins", I thought, "and I'll be back in time for Deal or No Deal".

I get to the car park in Farnham, discover I have no change and think "I can see the shop from here, no wardens about, I'll just pop over there and get them and be back in no time". I get to the shop and find a little sign saying "Closed - back in 20 mins". " Censored ", I thought. Went off to get some change for the car park knowing I'll now have to wait around. Get aforementioned change from handily placed newsagent in exchange for a Crunchie and a packet of beef flavour McCoys. Go back to the carpark to get ticket. The worst has happened in the 5 mins I've been away. One parking fine for £60 attached to my windscreen. Nice.

Waved my arms in despair for a short while before people look at me in an odd way. Went back to shop that's now open again to get cuddly toys. Get back to car again only to find some lowlife scum has smashed my nearside wing mirror glass. Housing's OK, but glass shattered to f**k.

I couldn't believe it. My willingness to be helpful around the house has ended up costing me £30 (as I'll pay before 2 weeks) and another £25 for replacement glass from my dealer. All that and I've missed the start of Deal or No Deal too!!

In future, if I am hanging around the house at a loose end I'll disappear off into the study pretending to speak to someone on the phone at length about something. I can look very busy when I need to - years of practice.

I smashed the side mirror on the 7 series not to long ago (fully documented on bm3w.co.uk) and the glass cost me hundreds to replace! was one of those auto dimming exterior folding jobbies.. and that was through a mate who works for Bmw and got it all trade and fitted for a drink!! robbing bastards!

It's strangely compelling. And I'm in stunned that Edmonds is back on the telly again, of course. One of these days I know Mr Blobby is going to come falling down the stairs and knock the banker's phone off the table. Wink

Look on the bright side - could have been worse, you could have come back to a flat tyre - and believe me thats expensive , dirty , time consuming and a real pig to do on the sport.

Agree MDP, I'll be keeping them peeled. The wife's actually just taken it on one of her many "seeing people" outings - let's hope nothing happens to it when she has it. Although, unlike on this occasion I'd be able to blame her then! See, every cloud has a silver lining! Laughing

MDP, did you ever consider going into the fortune telling business?

Guess what? As previously described, the wife took the RRS out late afternoon yesterday for some jolly or other. She rings up on her way back home saying that there were suspension failure messages all over the place. I, praising this site, told her it was a fairly common problem and to pull over, stop the car and restart it. This she did and indeed the messages cleared. Another phone call 5 mins later - "oh, there's funny noises coming from the wheels and that message is back again!". She'd stopped of her own accord this time so I got her to pop out and look around the car. What does she find? A flat tyre! Coincidentally, the front nearside... just under the smashed wing mirror.

Anyway - got her to not bother changing the tyre and called out LR Assistance. To their credit, they were there within 15 mins but it took the guy a full 30 mins to change the tyre. He apparently couldn't see any damage to it, so I'm taking it off to the local tyre place this morning to see what they can do for it, if anything. If I have to replace it I doubt I'll get much change out of £200. There's something fishy about all this (well, the mirror and the tyre at least - the parking ticket was my fault really)....

I've never had so much happen to one car in such a short space of time. Rear bumper ding, nearside rear door ding from an idiot in a car park, scuffed alloys and now a broken wing mirror and potentially replacement tyre. Obviously someone doesn't want me to be driving this car. I expect it's the local BMW dealer... Wink

Yep, Mrs Shmoogle needs to be careful that she isn't soon the ex-Mrs Shmoogle. Obviously I have blamed her as much as possible, almost to the point where she's offering to pay for some of it but even I'm not that mean Laughing I'll need that lottery win to pay for all of yesterday's goings on!! Wink

Just went over to the local tyre emporium and the flat tyre is jiggered - we wound it down out of it's cubby hole only to find the wife had driven on it too far and shafted the sidewalls. Added to which, none of his suppliers have a Goodyear in stock, but oddly the spare tyre is on a Continental. He can get hold of the relevant Conti for this afternoon, so he'll swap the spare tyre onto the "flat" alloy and then put the new Conti onto the offside front. He'll then put that Goodyear onto the spare and we're all done. Good job I've never used the spare yet, so I can get away with doing this.

Is it the weekend yet? Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
