Smudge, could you PM me your reg number in full, i can get a CAP/Glass' valuation on your car as of right now, and that will give you some idea of what to expect come resale time. The RRS is still outperforming book on actual resale though right now, but dealer trade in figures are as expected considerably lower.

When we're looking for used RR Sports for clients, we still have great difficulty putting our hands on them, they are either sold by the time we get to them, or have someone on them.

Clients have been approaching us, and the going prices for what they want to pay is:
For an 05 HSE with up to 25k miles, around the £33-35k mark, although most are at the top end of this scale.
For 06/56 plates, anywhere from £36-41k still.
We bought an 06 plate car recently and had a stormer HST bodykit added and total cost was £43k, so people are still paying top wack for them.

Although, when talking to clients, the residuals on the finance are quite a bit better on the brand new vehicles over the terms, and nowadays we're seeing brand new sports discounted down to around £45k LR supplied, so the difference in price between dealer 06 plates and a brand spanking new car, and the differences in future residuals does mean most people are opting to go for a brand new model to their spec (fresh out of the wrapper too) instead of used..

for example:

Residuals on a brand new HSE model as of yesterday, 12k miles per annum, £44k brand new:
24mths £29371
36mths £23524
48mths £19297
60mths £15878

Residuals on the £40k used 06 model supplied by Guy Salmon:
24: £26173
36: £21238
48: £17499
60: £14309

So for the difference in the monthlies being quite minor, i.e. below £100 per month difference, most clients are still taking the new examples over used right now.

But we have also seen a major surge in demand for Q7's.. used 06/56 S lines with tech pack and comms pack, for around: £38-40k is what we're willing to pay right now. 2 bought last week, and we're looking for a silver one for another client for this week, and dealers are now selling them very quickly. 3.0 TDI models are selling quickly but the S line as standard only comes with 1/2 leather/alcantara seats which most people think is quite stingey and cheap, would expect full leather paying £40k! i still think for the money a HSE spec RRS is much better then anything else on the market right now..

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Kam,
found your piece very interesting and agrees with what I was told at the dealer. His view was that a 1 year old HSE in black would fetch £2k more than any other colour.

What's your view about the same car as the start of this article but add dynamic pack (20" wheels, brembos, etc) and the side skirts? Dealer said to me 1 year old he would give me £42k trade in against a list price new TDV6 or TDV8. New RRS

Likewise against ANY colour other than black.... silver should stand up as well as black too, I'd have said.
