22x10" Stormer Replicas

All,

I am puzzled about the 22x10" Stormer replicas. They look good on the RRS but I
am not sure if the quality is acceptable. Any advise is appreciated:

Shmoogle,

I meant they look good. BUT ...

Are they built well?
Will they support the hefty weight of the car?
Will they cause suspension problems?

Any ideas from present or past experiences.

At least half a dozen members on rr.net bought these through eBay (from oemstyles4less) and have had zero issues with them up to now. If you go for them, make sure you get lug nuts that fit (they are usually not included with the rims) as the stock ones are too large. Of course, you will want to keep 5 stock lugs in the car at all times, you will need them if you ever get a flat and need to mount the spare.

Hi Umberto,

Thank you for the feedback (you too Shmoogle).

I am now really considering these 22" Stormer replicas by "OEM Styles 4 Less" at $2000 (w/ tyres)
They claim the lug pattern is 5x120 and is the same as the original LR wheels. I'll make sure to order
appropriate LUG NUTS from them Thumbs Up

They are packaging these wheels with NEW VREDESTEIN SESSANTA 265/35/22 TIRES but can sell them
w/o the tyres for $1000.

The size of these wheels is 22X10 vs. the LR S/C stock 20x9.5 Hence:

1) Will they hold the weight of the car? or cause suspension problems?
2) Are they too wide and possibly will get too close to the suspension?
3) Should I go for the PIRELLI Scorpion Zero Assymetrico instead?
4) Tyres better be in 315/30/22 or 295/30/22 or 285/35/22?

William, I don't know much about the Vredesteins, but both 285 and 265/35 would make a good choice for your 22s. The majority of owners here in the US seems to pick the 285/35/22s to run over those rims, since the size is still fairly close to the stock 20s (the speedo remains accurate), there are no rubbing issues and many tire manufacturers to choose from. The slightly wider stance of the 285s provides a bit of extra contact with the road, probably slightly better handling over the 265s, but mostly better looks when standing still... Very Happy

I wouldn't go with a profile lower than a 35 for comfort sake, as there is too little rubber between you and your butt when you start going down to 30 profile sidewalls. Plus, a 315/30/22 requires a 10.5" wide alloy rim to fit safely, while the 22" Stormer is only 10" wide.

Like umberto said... lots of us in the US and A are running those wheels with no problems. Just get them with 285/35-22 and you'll be a happy camper.

Lets see what I can help here:

) Will they hold the weight of the car? or cause suspension problems?

The wight is not a problem, the spec sheets show its for SUV 103+, Suspension problems I dont think so, the ride can be harsh if tires are 30's and full pressure 45 psi.
2) Are they too wide and possibly will get too close to the suspension?
I have installed 295-35-22 with suspension lowering module and no rubbing or hitting yet Smile
3) Should I go for the PIRELLI Scorpion Zero Assymetrico instead?
You will wear those tires out FAST!!!! Try a threadwear over 300, sure the pirellis are excellentm but too expensive to replace each 5000 km!
4) Tyres better be in 315/30/22 or 295/30/22 or 285/35/22?
Do not go with 315's please, 285-35 are excellent, 295-30-22 is pushin it, I have yet to try 295-40 and 295-45 22's! Very soon I will let you know what they looked like and how they worked.

Price is very good for 1,000, , remember about the tire pressure sensors!!

I buy my stormer replicas from Europe, they are 22x10's, half of suppliers from USa sell 22x9.5, if thats the case, go with 285-35-22, If you buy 22x10's bigger tire:)

What color is your RRS?
I have a silver RRS with black stormers, two color wheels, look great!

Adios Amigos!!

Hi jjb,

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep those hints in mind. I starting to lean towards the
Michelin Diamaris 4x4 285/35/22 but I am not sure if they have the best TREAD WEAR.
Can you recommend?

Yes you are correct, the ones I got from the US are indeed 22x10" wide.

My RRS is in Buckingham Blue. I'll be posting some new pictures once I put the wheels
on.

Those tires are great choice!

Its a very nice tire, definitely for an SUV, after you see the 285/35/22, whats the next 3 numbers? 106,108,112? The higher the better and also thats a tire with a very good thread rating since its designed for weight!
See ya amigo!
