2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Alaska White

Software Update!

Hiya all,

I was hoping that someone out there could help me out. I have purchased the Nokia phone cradle to allow me to have full access to my phone book etc... However, the phone I have purchased to go with this is the 6230i. The phone system doesn't recognise the phone and I am aware I need a software update.

So, I thought no problem I'll just contact Land Rover and have this done. I was shocked to find that they wanted £120 just to upgrade the software, £120 for plugin' the RRS into a computer ...Robbing B******S!

Now am I just being 'tight' or is this a little accessive? Does anyone know anywhere else I can have this done at a cheaper rate? I live in the North East of England. Hope someone can help. I've got me tin hat on awaiting your replies!

They do charge (unless you are very lucky and get on well with your dealer)
That does sound expensive though, phone around some more dealers and get prices.

Yes, you are right - most dealers are robbing barstewards and will charge for this. However, it's likely that if you take your car in for servicing you'll get it done for free. Anything need doing on your car?

you could try turners alams and audio in sunderland if you havnt already they do a lot for my local dealer

Tried Durham, Newc****e and Stockton. Best quote so far is from Durham at £117.50 inc. VAT. They also said they will do the software upgrade for £59 if I have a full service. So why can't they do the upgrade at £59 without the service? That way, the next time I needed a service I would...

...still steer clear of the robbing b******s!

No I would actually make a point of using them. Some people just don't get it do they?

Ideas anyone?

Thanks, I'm glad you mentioned this. I'd forgotton about the software upgrade for the cradle to work. So as my car is in PDI around about now I'll get it done and hope thats its FOC

Should be able to get it done for free at PDI.... use the old "what's the point of supplying me with a car that I know won't work with my phone unless you do it" routine.

most dealers will charge and hours labour, yeah it is a rip off. the download takes about 50 mins. Land rover won't pay for this, theres a bulliten that states all warranty claims for phone upgrades will be rejected and its down to the customer to pay.

Seems a joke to me, all the technology in these cars and they can't put the latest level software in from the factory.

They could at least do a customer complaint "recall" which means it'll get done under warranty only if the customer picks the fault up
