Mercedes-Benz is celebrating AMG's 40th birthday with this 500hp, coupe

the limited production CLK63 AMG Black Series.

This two-seat coupe, dubbed a “street version” of their F1 Safety Car, uses designs and technology developed for their Formula One racers. The Black Series coupe stands apart from its lesser AMG siblings with its wildly flared carbon-fiber fenders, various scoops and slats, an air diffuser rear valance and staggered-width, 19-inch wheels and tires. Its 500hp, 6.3-liter V-8 and seven-speed automatic gearbox can rip 0-60 mph runs in 4.1 seconds, and hit an electronically limited 186 mph top speed, which is scrubbed off by massive composite brake discs.

An adjustable suspension means the car can be tailored for road or track driving. Three hundred fifty CLK63 AMG Black Series coupes will come to America for 2008, and each will cost $136,000.
