I have always loved the 928, I am now thinking of getting one to replace my e36 as my 'toy'
Had a 944 a while ago which was fun but nowhere near the same class.
I know it is a potential money pit but I am not sure I can resist

Clarksons had to cost less than £1500 and he actually contacted a 928 owners forum asking for their help in getting one. They advised against it but found him one anyway.

Cheers Envoy, I know I am ugly but I don't think the 928 (S4's anyway) are, it goes back to a childhood dream, when I was 14 -16 I used to work at a carwash behind Harvey Nics at the weekends. Without fail one of the last cars we would wash on a Saturday was a near new blue 928 with cream interior, the reg was AE99 (just checked the plate is now on a rather nice AMG).
Of all the cars that came in (and there were some very nice ones) the 928 was my favourite.
It was owned by the manageress of the Vidal Sassoon salon round the corner (she was very nice too )
Fell in love (with the car ) Love the noise they make and also the shape.

So if I find a half decent one it will be mine I tell you, all mine

i had a brand new 928 S in white back in 1983 i loved it ......

Look, let's cut the crap fellas.., if you're going to get an AUTHENTIC Porsche, it's got to be a 911. I've had seven to date and love them, it's what Porsche was created to do. Everything else they've produced has been a compromise to accommodate other lucrative market niches.

Brian - haven't LR done the same thing with the RRS

Hear what you are saying Brian, but then that is like saying LR were born to make Defenders / series and nothing else and they sold out by selling cars with 20" wheels that are cr-p off road.
I just like the 928
