Extra high suspension off road

In the Belgian Land Rover Magazine, a reporter indicated that it would be possible to manually select the extra high suspension (higher than normal off road) that normally only is activated when the bottom of the RRS touches the surface. Anyone have any clue how to mannually select this? TdV8 HSEpete

No it's not possible, you can fool the system in believing it need to be in super extended mode but you need a plank of wood! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I thought that I had read that one of these re-programming companies had done it - in a similar fashion to the programming mod that is offered for the P38 and its air suspension. But it is not manually accessible on a standard one. 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit

You can't get the car to go into extended mode, but once it has bottomed it can go into it and then you can get it into super extended mode. Its a German company Mazxter or something like that that have messed with the height settings, but from what I've heard it puts a lot of stress on the components and failures are quite liklely on a regular basis.

Hi an hello- this is my first post in this Bow down forum...
Whistle here the Link to Matzker's Offroad-Kit: http://www.matzker.de/product_info.php?products_id=739
I'm very sorry, it's written in german, and my english is not good enough to translate the text.
Only a few facts: You can Lift the car +26mm more than in the standart-offroad-modus up to 100km/h; also you can lower the car at every speed -23mm.
Greetings, Franz

United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Chawton White

I pursued this German module ever since Tim posted that article. After much e-mailing to the company, Matzker told me they have an authorized dealer on the East Coast of the US (Rover Special Vehicles of Jamestown, Rhode Island.) I ran into two problems though, one big, one insurmountable: Cost in US$ is ridiculous - $3K, installed - and the dealer needs your car for 4-5 hours to hook it up to its computers after the module is installed to "recalibrate" the suspensions. Since I live in California my pursuit ended there. Too bad, it sounds like a terrific hack otherwise and if it was possible to get this module locally I would have seriously thought about it, despite its obscene cost. But I would love to hear feedback from someone using it, I'd also be concerned about stress and electronic failures when messing with these factory settings.

Anyway, just "grounding" the Sport is not sufficient to get into extended offroad mode... I tried it recently on a perfectly sized ditch in Death Valley, scratched my car's belly pretty good back and forth a few times, and nothing happened. Sad I later found out that, in addition to the car being grounded, Traction Control must also be unable to get a grip, only then is extended offroad height invoked (at that point, as mentioned above you can actually select an extra inch or so of "super extended" lift, which is pretty much as far as the car will go, about 70mm above offroad height in total I believe. That's a lot!) But as long as one or more of the wheels has positive traction, you don't rise any higher regardless of how badly your underbody is getting scraped in the process. Which would make a "manual" override such as the one offered by Matzker all the more useful in a few situations.

BTW, I noticed that Matzker now also sells full underbody "armor" plates for the Sport. They look great and are surely top quality like everything else Matzker is famous for, but cost 1900 Euros... Scheiße!!!!

And you can buy them in the UK through several outlets now too, they no longer have to come from Germany with a huge postage fee. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Its less the postage fee than more the Matzker-Name-Price-Bonus. In Germany they are told an "apotheke" -that means something like "pharmacy" (sorry for my english).
They have quite good parts (and the Matzker's are also good) - but a lot of the exactly same parts you can get for much less in other shops.

There was a D3 with the modification on the Morrocco trip the D3 guys went on, I don't think it did any better than their cars.

With the German system you can also lower your car at speed for stability purposes, much sooner than it has been programmed to do by LR 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
