I don't think there's anything to be concerned about, car companies are being sold off all the time, look at Aston Martin! No-one will allow bad things to affect Landrover as it's actually MAKING money.

Now there's a thought, Land Rover lumped in with Audi, Bentley, Lambo and Bugatti, maybe that 12 Cylinder engined FFRR predicted 3 years ago would make it into production with a W12 engine..................... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I see no reason not to purchase a car because of pure speculation. The last thing LR employees need is customers getting cold feet on a what if |

Whoever buys LR isn't going to fiddle too much with it, remember one of the things that has kept LR going for all these years is that so many people are loyal to them and wouldn't drive any other marque. Land Rover has the most loyal group of owners in the world despite all the problems of the past and if you buy a company like LR you are a foolish person to forget that it is an icon - that is what makes it so sellable in the first place. Both jaguar and Land Rover are among the best known "brands" in the world.

If you have made the decision to buy a new L/R product based on its own merits, then you should still do it regardless of the possibility that the owner of the company may change, its not going to change a thing in the short to medium term with the cars or the dealer network. IMHO

on the 1st Oct 2004 I bought a new MG ZT260 knowing it was a low volume car and that the parent company were on rocky grounds, I had followed the progress of fitting a Ford 4.6V8 into a frontwheel drive ZT and was waiting for the supercharged version to come out but I had waited long enough and so bought the car.

So it's all your fault then Alicatt, first you buy an MG and they go phut, and now you are looking to buy a land Rover and within days there is an announcement.................................. |

Oh yes Alicatt, I know that road extremely well! That is the back road from Maclaren High School,Callander over to Port of Menteith. I live just down the road along the A811. In my TVR owning days we used to do exactly the same thing over that section if the A811 from Arnprior to Stirling was too busy (those were in the days before the killjoys put the roundabout in at Kippen! to slow the traffic down at what was then a crossroads) 5-6am on a still summery Sunday morning I could get my TVR 450SEAC up to about 165 along that straight! Home to Tescos (18 miles!) in about 9 minutes, including going through the centre of Stirling I think was the fastest I did it. I calmed down a bit after that and bought a Rover 820 fastback that Brian Luttie at the Dreadnought garage in Callander added a supercharger to for me...................... I didn't half give a few lads in their Golf GTi's and Astra GTE's some nasty frights in that plain jane Q car! The old farts on this forum think I'm a dull and boring flat hat brigade driver, but I've had my fun and share of nasties and now drive for the pleasure and not the speed. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
