That would be extremely difficult given the tight-knit nature of Jaguar and Land Rover from an engineering, management and administration point of view. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Many years ago I was the technical officer for Smiths Industries Australia and the company was run and managed profitably by us engineers.
Then the UK Head Office sent in a new management team comprised of accountants.
Shortly afterwards many of us jumped ship as a result of the MAD decisions being made which took no account of the engineering consequences of their decisions.
Within 10 years and another owner the company ceased to exist.
So........from market and technical leadership to obscurity.
I see history repeating itself with Land Rover and Jaguar......if not Ford in total !

I can see Jaguar disappearing. Lets face it Aston is the main face of that small niche. The market for Jags is dead.

LR has survived previous sell outs and gone on to do well.

IMHO I think LR is doing well compared to Jag, that has been struggling for years with its old fashioned approach. Because of that I think LR will make it and especially if they can roll out a hybrid FL2 later this year to compete against Toyota.

Perhaps its Ford who are in trouble really. Like chrysler. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

It'll be interesting in say 10 years time to look back over the Aston/Jag output in terms of sports coupes - they've been inextricably linked for the past few years due to having the same parent. I wonder how different future XKs will be from the associated DB model? Very Happy

Maybe you're right... maybe Jag will disappear into obscurity. There'll be a lot of disgruntled Yanks if they can no longer buy their "Jagwars".

I have no problems with LR being Chinese owned, just so long as they continue to make them in this country, and they don't rename them to the silly name that Rover's have become. It will be interesting to see which LR technology Ford steal for their new generation of Fiesta and Focus based SUV's............... TR and HDC will be among them I bet! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

If the Chinese were to buy, it would be so that there would be a home grown competitor to the established GM brands in China.
Secondly it would give them a product and production and R&D leap frog beyond imagination.
They may well pack up all the existing factories and move them to China along with some limited personnel.......
But they would not produce vehicles anywhere other than China owing to production costs and internal politics.

Ivery everybody said that about the purchase of MG Rover, yet the factory has just reopened and is now making cars again, albeit in limited numbers, but the old MG version of the 75 and the TF are coming back on the market here and they are assembled in the UK 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Was MG Rover purchased by the Chinese Govt. (or one of it's 50% corporations) or by a private consortium ?
Not a silly question....I really don't know.

I believe it was one of the Chinese Investment companies, so read a 50% govt owned company although they have never said as much! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
