United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Arctic Frost
Confused Rear Hatch/Boot

Wife managed to confuse our 07MY soft-shut rear boot/hatch today. Pressing the unlock button then lifting under the hatch lip resulted in the hatch open and the boot half-way unlatched. Closing the hatch left the boot still part unlatched and loose, refusing to open completely, or close Evil or Very Mad

Trip to dealer and they must have reset the mechanism, wife was told she had "opened it wrong" Shocked and all is well again..... Cheers

Simon

Really useful of them to tell her she had opened it incorrectly - she must have realised that the second she pressed the button! Hope she wacked the technician one with her handbag! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yup I thjink so. I think that you could probably reproduce the scenario by:

Push Boot button
Quickly lift upper hatch release
Boot now stops opening as hatch now open
Hatch being open now stops boot movement
Soft-shut release software goes into infinite loop....
Aaaaarrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Very Happy

I´m just note sure how the dealer reset the boot......! Cheers

I’ve had the boot door get stuck in the half closed / half open state, a few times.

First time I was in a real sweat & didn’t know what to do, so I just gave the boot lid a few “very firm” shoves to get it back to the fully closed position, which worked out just fine.

But what I’ve discovered on subsequent occurrences of getting the boot stuck in this position, is this……

If you cycle the push button a few times, while with your other hand lifting the boot to open it by the handle, it will sort itself out.
