Dear all RRS owners please help me a novice car owner in the RRS "chalenge". I already wrote that my car should of been produced on the 5th of June 2007, but now the "Stealer" says that he made a mistake and the date is 15 th of June.
Nonetheless, I wanted to ask you all do you know if I have to drive more slowly the first 2000 miles. I have heard that ( this is my first brand new car) new cars need to be driven the first 2000 miles more slowly not exceeding 2500 rpm.

Is that true? Do I have to pre-drive my new RRS? Or is it the way old cars worked?

General agreement is that new engines are manufactured to much higher tolerances than those of old. The reason for running in new cars of old was that they weren't so the parts needed time to bed in.

As VA says, don't go banzai but you also don't need to stick to 2,500 rpm max either!  Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award

I think the owner manual recommends that for the first 1000 kms you should not allow the engine to labour to in a high gear at low revs............................ and not to try to hit the rev limiter in low gears! It's a lot easier with an automatic, even one that has a manual side to it as the ECU just won't let you do either of the above.
