Took my 90 to local non franchise service and fettling guy and he asked me what sort of mpg a TDv8 should be getting in an RRS as one of his other customers has one and reckons he's AVERAGING 30mpg. I said that I would take that with a pinch of salt and said I had heard 24-25mpg for a TDv8 was more realistic - was I right or was the owner right?

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Arctic Frost

On my run down south this week i had the cruise set at 75mph and averaged 50mph the computer got up to 29mpg that was about 250 miles, while there using it around town it dropped down top to 26mpg,the drive over to MK which i didnt take it steady and it was cross country droped it down to 24.8 mpg, down to Essex and back home all motorway and i didnt hang around cruising in the 90's its now down to 23 mpg

I havent reset the computer and have covered 700 miles of different roads and at very different speeds so 23 mpg isnt bad considering that my old V6 only averaged 22.something some of my Previous cars

Experimented last night. Did A217 Banstead to Jct 14 M25- about 25 miles, reset mpg at start, set car at 73mph on cruise soon as I got on M25, sat in middle lane and didn't hit brake once (though had to slightly slow a couple of times and did it with the +/- cruise button), watched world and his wife overtake me but got 35.5 avg mpg at Jct 14 then hit a traffic jam, didn't dip below 34.5 from jct 9 onwards Shocked

Done 14000 miles now, definately loosening up. BP normal diesel used. Drove in normal Autobox mode.

Think cruise control is the secret, and not braking if at all poss. P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!

Boldly you've found the secret - it isn't using the cruise it is driving at the correct speed for the road and not ever having to touch the brakes. The other thing is to accelerate gradually and evenly - standing on the gas to then have to brake hard is proven to be very wasteful! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I thought all BMW owners thought lane 3 was purely for them, so why are you worried about those sat at 70 using lane 2 S? Whistle 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Laughing Laughing

As my sig on ffr says, just because I drive a BMW doesn't make me a bad person Wink

All people who sit in lane 2 when there's nothing on their inside should be attacked with rockets. And don't get me started on people who drive around in perfectly clear weather with their fogs on!! Censored Censored Censored

At on those two we are agreed! However................................... after 3 incidents in the last month I have taken to driving during the day with my headlights on even in good visibility - it would appear that now that the trees and hedges are in full leaf and the meadows are nice and green, Giverny Green RRS's blend into the background a bit too well! Abit too Q car! Fortunately no damage has occurred as I have been able to swerve out of the way, but the ABS and EBS have had a couple of pretty severe workouts lately when cars have pulled out of side roads! I've also had a couple of close shaves in the 90 and I can tell you when you are doing 70 in that and have to stand on the brakes you really appreciate the electronics in the RRS - again the 90 is a dark green car! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Those that use M25 should know that lane 1 is just one long stream of artics, whilst the fast lane is one long stream of salesmen...... loads of room in the middle Wink

Though under normal circumstances I'm endeavouring to clear lane 3 with my foot down............ P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!

Ah well, you will drive around in your camouflage cars Tim Wink

I can happily deal with people driving round with their headlights on in the day - I can understand the logic behind that. But there's NO excuse for driving around with your fogs on when it's not foggy, imho.

that is what I ask myself too. Lights, yes, I understand that, but fogs can be a bit blinding at night in the rain Shocked
