United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
Advice please!! About to buy a SC model

Hi,

I'm on the verge of buying a 2005/55 RRS Supercharged in Black ... and have the following (which maybe dumb!) questions:

I'd really appreciate any advice anyone can give:

1. What is a "First Edition" - IE. What spec differences were there, and is the one I'm buying a first ediotion or not!? - Also which is the better model to have?

2. What were optional features on the 2005 SC model that it may or may not have - (such as will it have adaptive cruise or was that an option? ....) and all those kind of questions. I'm assuming 20" alloys were standard (but may be wrong!) .... As you can see although my purchase is imminent ... I may not have researched it as well as I perhaps should have. Am travelling some miles in the next couple of days to go and buy a vehicle that I've agreed to buy subject to the conidtion being right.

Any advice anyone can give regarding the spec and First Edition questions would be greatly appreciated!

The 1st Editions were a limited run when the car launched.

Either came in Silver, Black or Vesuvius Orange (you could ONLY buy a 1st Ed in this).

Came with all the options ticked, plus the rear seat entertainment package and the Stormer wheels.

It's really no different to any other SC, to be fair and unless it was in Orange you'd be hard pressed to tell a 1st Ed from any other SC with Stormers out there.... if the dealer is charging you a premium for it being a 1st Ed, beware.

Many thanks for that - I'd been searching the internet for the answers as to what the differences were and had no luck at all. That makes things a whole lot clearer.

He hasn't mentioned whether it's a first edition so I'm assuming not. (If it is that will be quite a bonus - but a very unlikely one!) The only thing mentioned as an extra is side steps - so I'm not sure what to expect regarding adaptive cruise, wheels / entertainment system etc.

Thanks very much for clearing up the 1st Ed query for me - was there any other model deriviatives on the SC? - such as HSE or S etc. - or was the SC just "one spec" ?

Cheers for that - have agree to buy this other one (less money but more miles) ... otherwise it would look tempting: It's a lovely car.

I appreciate the info on clearing up what comes as standard spec as well - Which is lots obviously! And I'm pleased about the adaptive cruise being standard. Am I right thereore in thinking the only options on a SC were sunroof and rear DVD? and everything else being standard? Would be interested where you got the SC sill plates as they do look particularly good too.

Thanks for the welcome to the forum ...

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I've just checked my archive of pricelists and brochures and the interior of the 1st Ed should have Hand Polished Real Lined Oak (I think it was black) on the doors and centre console. It should also have Range Rover Carpet Mats and bright tread sriips (most of us have them now aka Tasmods) and also the Stormer wheels

OPtions on it were the Sunroof, Privacy Glass to rear of B post, Rear seat entertainment (its the individual screens in the head restraints), active locking diff (e-diff).
The only other way to check if it is a 1st Ed would be to get hold of the VIN, go to a LR dealer and check that against the history kept on LR's computer system.

The only really obvious 1ST Editions are the Vesuvius Orange versions, otherwise it was too easy to fake a Java Balck or Silver one by adding the bits to a "standard" S/C 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

lined oak and sill tred plates were the difference and the fact you could get one for launch. All supercharged came with 20"s but 1st ed. came with the stormer style rather than the ten spoke. Rear entertainment was an option as was sunroof and privacy. But nice car...

Talking of insane fuel economy - was stuck in traffic the other day when a Jeep SRT8 came alongside. Jesus, it made some noise.... I have to say it actually looks good too, in a basic sort of way:

I seriously looked at one of these shmoogle as you know - Had one for a day - even though it was fully loaded it didn't compare to a S/C sport on spec, but then its a lot cheaper. But it does less the gallon than my fighterbomber and needs servicing every 6mths Shocked

BUT ....... it's F'in quick Thumbs Up
