Spare Parts - Faith restored

****************************************************************

LAND ROVER HAVE MADE AMMENDS - I AM ONCE AGAIN A HAPPY CUSTOMER

Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down

****************************************************************

I have mentioned in replies to other threads that my RRS TDV8 is dead, after taking it into the dealers on the 8th of May (after a quick trip to France) for suspension/dynamic response knocking issue.... however the dr ecu had failed, after much shouting an ecu was pulled from the factory. Shocked

end of story? no, the new unit refused to take and firmware code and yet another unit ordered???? no, according to LR customer services, the part does not exist in the system... infact yesterday the guy openly said he had no answer for me, no timescale for me and no solution for, other than "its with senior management" and I still have the courtesy car (Jag s-type 3.0)..... Shocked Shocked

so my 6 week old car will of been off the road for 2 weeks on Tuesday and no sign of a spare part!!

I think free servicing has to be offered?? I would welcome others thoughts.... but not the usual FFRR, if I wanted one, I'd of bought one

so it looks like the part has not arrived, a month on Tuesday!! so its now 1 month on road and 1 month in the dealers! GONE** RRS 3.0SC Silver fully loaded Smile - 2020 110 loving it

Shocked sorry to hear your woes wokkaman, i would say that free servicing is the least that L/R could do for you, when you take in to account the depreciation of your car and the possible finance costs then it is costing YOU a lot of money for it to be sat at a dealers, and not your fault.

I would push L/R for some sort of recompense

Although other people have had problems which have gone on for quite a long time(Doc) and im not sure they have had anything back from L/R some of my Previous cars

Sorry to hear about your situation wokkaman.. I think free servicing is the very least they could offer. I was unhappy with the way my dealer failed to deal with some warranty issues. After a polite letter to LR customer services, i received a very apologetic reply from the dealer and a free service.
No comparison at all with the nightmare and disappointment your currently going through.

I know I have said this before, but it still begs the question to whether the TDV8 development is actually complete or not - sometimes marketing and sales dictates release dates and not the development/production status - why is the part not available? have the components gone to final production tool yet? if these parts are still pre-production tooling then this would make sense to why firstly the production of the TDV8 always seems delayed plus it also explains why 'the part does not exist in the system....'

just my thoughts - I may be completely wrong of course Confused

If I was you I'd tell them to keep the car and order you a new one. This one appeares to be a bit of a lemon. I had a TDV6 with problems and had it replaced with a new one due to the problems I had. This saved me about 6 months in depreciation by the time i got the other car. I did have the car n the meantime though so them having to fork out for the hire car may not make it so simple.

I have a totally trouble free TDV8 now. I am very happy with it.

I have been watching with great pleasure your coming into the LR family and I shared with you your expectation and then your joy at finally getting your much longed for vehicle..............and now this.

I don't know if anyone at LR looks at this site but I am sure that a great many of us would like to say to them..

This ( and others like Doc ) situation makes us VERY ANGRY

If there is a cock up.......stop stone walling and FIX IT. ( Is it the factory or the dealer ? )

Remember.......there are over 1200 of us on this site watching this saga.

Do you want us to buy another Land Rover ?

I, for one, may have second thoughts.

ps this is my 4th Range Rover since 1986 and before I drove the RRS I wasn't going to buy your product again precisely because of the type of after sales problems that wokka is having. (The more things change the more they stay the same )

This is getting really depressing. The closer my TDV8 gets to arriving the more I'm beginning to think it was a bad decision to go ahead. At the time I was thinking of placing an order Doc, was having all his problems with the Dynamic Response on his car, so I held off, only to see delivery times jump from 3 months to 6 months. When LR finally acknowledged there was indeed a problem and announced the fix I thought "great, i'll go ahead with my order."

Time and time again I now read threads like Wokkaman's where people have waited a long time, built up their anticiaption and excitement, only to have all this pent up enthuisiasm dashed when the vehicle breaks down within days of getting it.

There is always going to be the odd car with the odd fault, but surely it should not be like this where Land Rovers customers appear to be part of the development program of the vehicle. It may be a high tech vehicle but that is no excuse.

When I found out last week that my order was delayed even further (I had to ask my dealer to ask LR) I nearly cancelled. The trouble is there is nothing else out there in the market that I would really want as a substitute.

Someone at Land Rover or Ford really needs to get a grip on this, as before too long it will start showing up in the J D Power rating. There is enough negative climate related publicity aimed at Land Rover at the moment without adding reliability issues as well. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Wokkaman.

Dont stop at the shouting at the after-sales staff. Question their fatherhood, question their mothers profession, try standing up to physically initimidate them. Bellow at them, take out the fact that Landrover have produced a car with a faulty part that they cannot fix as Landrover will not support them or the after sales staff. Tell them how much you are worth, tell them of your income, your university qualifications and make sure you do it at 300db per tonsil.

After-sales staff and dealership staff are lower life-forms, they only exist for our abuse. That is right, lets face it, everyone that owns a RRS walks on water, is always reasonable, always behaves impeccably and only becomes annoyed when provoked. A RRS owner is never wrong, never rude, never arrogant, never unreasonable and is only impolite when one of the "oiks" behind the counter forgets to ask if you would like a sugar in your coffee.

OK rant over.

Landrover make the car. The dealer would love to repair it as the dealer (that does not belong to Landrover) will get paid by landrover and warranty work is easier to process than commercial work. The customer is happy as he is getting something for "free".

If you want a free service (though goodness knows why as it is not that expensive) then talk to Landrover as your dealer should not have to pay for Landrovers mistakes.

To be honest, I am glad I left the UK as it seems that the culture of "ME ME ME, you were 1 minute late and my Free of Charge valet is sub-standard so I want 3 years free servicing, a refund of 50% of my car cost, compensation for emotional and mental stress due to driving a Free of Charge loan car that is not the same as mine and as a gesture of good-will you can pay my mortgage for the next 5 years" has taken hold. Shocked

I know this is obvious, however just to add some balance, in many occassions, people find such forums to help them with problems they are facing with their cars - this means the percentage of problem cars and disgruntled owners are of a higher proportion on a forum than in the 'real world'.

My RRS is now 8 months / 8000 miles old and has not had a single problem with it - just for reference - I had 3 major problems with my VW Touareg in the same period. In fact the Touareg has two design faults which leads to uneven tyre wear - this problem has never been officially recognised nor resolved by VW

I believe the biggest problem is common for every manufacturer - a big variation in dealer performance and attitude - which is a shame - it can be a bit of a postcode lottery. Maybe JD Power should conduct a dealer rating survey aswel?

Spot on Kaine Thumbs Up

rrsjo, i to am concerned about the impending delivery of my TDV8(might be tomorrow) especially when my TDV6 has been relatively trouble free(apart from minor niggles) hopefully we are only seeing a minority of problems being reported on the forum and that it doesn't reflect on the overall reliability of the car. some of my Previous cars
