Rear headrest screens + DVD

Hi,
Has anyone got any recommendations about adding after market headrest screens and a DVD player or play station. Recommended costs and suppliers would be useful? New RRS

Does anyone have any experience or comments about whether or not to do this on an after market basis. New RRS

From what I have read over the years on this forum - people who have had it done .. end up with a better system than the factory fitted option

Just installed 2 x Centurion CEN65HR swivel IR screens in headrests + Panasonic 8 dsic DVD changer + 2 x centurion IR headphones......took around 4 hrs in total and cost £460 incl wiring / fuses etc. If you have the balls to cut your headrests and dont mind a bit of soldering, it couldnt be easier (although it's the second time Ive installed my own, so its gets easier). Will post some pics of the install....see what you think. Very Happy 06MY RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE

Yep me too. Where did you buy etc and how did you get the wires from screens to dvd. Did they fit in headrest stems? New RRS

Hi,

Just make sure your screens swivel. This didn't occur to me when I had my aftermarket NESA Bluetooth/Touchscreen DVD system fitted and, of course, due to the shape/angle of the headrests, my screens face upwards a little, which is OK if you're an adult but hopeless if you're a child -whenever we travel long distance, my wife and I have to lower our seats while my kids require a significant boost at the back via foam/rubber squares under their booster seats (a real hassle). Another thing - our player was installed underneath one of the back seats. While this is a tidy place for the system to be, changing DVD's is inconvenient. Yet another thing - make sure you have a remote to control things from the front seat, otherwise you'll have to get out of the vehicle to use the touchscreen.

The exercise cost around A$3,000. If I could do it all over again I'd get a roof-mounted system (I'm actually considering this option now).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Rick. TDV6 / Stornoway Grey + Black / Rhodium / Sunroof / Side Steps / DVD / SatNav / 19" Wheels / Bi-Xenon / Premium ICE / Nudge Bar

Hi,

We had an after market system from Vizualogic (A1250) in the headrests fitted by the dealer, which in the days before we had a mishap with the car worked magic with the kids. Its simple to use each having the ability to play 2 dvds or share one between the two screens, together with IR phones and aux jack in. They fitted the power through the headlight on switch...which took a bit of detective work as they forgot to tell me Laughing before we drove off...

Cheers,

Adrian
