Air compressor sound

On startup the car will make a loud buzzing sound from next to the back left wheel.. it's actually quite loud and lasts for about 20 seconds.. it happens every time and has done so for months.. it sounds like it's something related to the air compressor.. can it be fixed by making sure the air compressor insulation is fixed properly? or is this just a normal sound?

I get the same sort of noise out of my missus's Disco, but my RRS is silent and i lower the suspension every time i get out, therefore the compressor works every time i start it back up and drive off, i would get it into the dealers if i were you and get it checked out Thumbs Up some of my Previous cars

thanks envoy.. yes it also makes the same loud noise if i raise or lower the suspension.. it's annoying because it doesn't sound good, you can hear it from inside the car clearly and it's much louder outside.

this noise only started after there was an upgrade done to the air compressor about a year ago.. i guess i'll take it back to the dealers.. showed them this problem last year and they told me all RRS make this noise.

They don't all do that nor should they. And there was, I recall, a dealer requirement to check them all - this was over a year ago. This may be the upgrade to which you refer.

My last one did make a racket but only when the bracket holding the compressor pump was broken by somebody jacking up the car in the wrong position and breaking it! (Not me and a long story...) A new bracket and cover plate sorted the problem.

In short get a dealer to have a look, a visual inspection may reveal the pump has worked loose from its housing. Hopefully it's a quick fix.

Would you believe it that the exact same thing happened to me two days ago. Had a flat and a friend did the jacking. 2010 Sport Supercharged with all options apart from TV and Extended leather (wish I had the latter) (Previously 2007 RRS S/C)
