4x4s are supposed to be bad...

Just been in a mates 2.5 vectra. The onboard computer showed an average fuel consumption of 16mpg, and when accelerating hard for a couple of seconds it only got 7.5mpg Shocked A vectra is supposedly a normal family car but these figures are awful Shocked . Our 'gas guzzling 4x4' does 40mpg Rolling Eyes 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

it is on parr with our AC Cobra, £25.00 to do about a 19 mile jolly, but a family car, that cannot be right Shocked no regrets!

Subaru Impreza's are even worse and they only have a 2.0litre engine and a much lighter body! Friend of mine has a WRX hatchback and reckons he has never seen better than 18mpg, ever, even with very restrained driving! And it's CO2 emissions make it a good friend of Gordon Brown - much higher than the RRS.................. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

If the environmentalists get their way we will have to leave our 4x4 's at the city gates and drive a small space efficient vehicle that doesn't clog the roads.

MINE(Click) will be in java and alpaca naturally.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I filled up in the centre of Glasgow yesterday and drove home, through the "coming out of town on a Saturday" traffic, uphill and down dale in the country and then along the flat of the A811 to Stirling last night, through town to Falkirk, town centre driving on a Saturday night and this is what the average fuel consumption is showing now. This is the best that I have ever had in non motorway/long haul, steady speed driving. I don't know whether to put it down to having run 3 tanks full of "branded" (Shell and Esso) ordinary diesel (not optimax or ultimate) through the system instead of the Sainsbury's cheapest that I have nearly always used since taking delivery of the car 2 years ago. Thess miles have been run in the same driving conditions that give me 26-28mpg on Sainsbury fuel and my driving technique - at the speed limit for the road/conditions- hasn't changed. I am now regularly seeing 450 miles out of 65-70 litres of diesel so for me fuel stops are coming up ever 2 weeks at the moment. Doubtless it will all be put back to the bad old days when the car goes in for it's 2nd service in a couple of weeks time - the indicator has just come on to say 30 days to next service and this car has never had good economy after a service and they have fiddled with the ECUs.

sorry for the quality of the piccy but my camera is playing up a bit at the moment 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You're dead right right Tony! We're just the scapegoats for all the other hypocrites using the road. If they REALLY cared, they'd ride a bike or walk. But no.., instead they carry on polluting and blame US to clear their conscience for the current state of the environment!
