Heated front wind screen

I just drove thru the mother of all snow storms and I could not have been more pleased with way the RRS handled. However, I'm not convinced the heated windshield actually works. I am assuming that the windshield should feel, to the touch, slightly warmer than the side window, it does not. That said, the windshield was accumulating quite a bit of snow, mind you it was snowing like hell! One last item, I have a rock chip in the window, (real happy about that) is it possible if one of the elements is seperated it might disable the feature? Your thoughts, please.

Simple test is to switch the heated windscreen on when windscreen is iced up (make sure all other heating in car is switched off) and see if ice melts from the window. Remember it doesn't need to be that warm to melt the ice. I would have thought the stone chip would not affect the operation. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

So far I have picked up 3 stone chips on my front screen and all have been repaired . I was also concerned if this would effect the way that the front heated screen operated , but I can say it has had no effect and the heated screen works very well. When it is operating you can feel no heat from it .
