And you lot really expect Land Rover to take this forum site seriously. Any Land Rover employee caught logged into the above posts, would probably by dismissed - and I don't joke Exclamation Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Just my opinion - OFF TOPIC or not, the "light hearted banter" seems to have deteriorated over the last six months to where it appears to often be at a personal level. It's certainly not the kind of material, and hence image, to present to Land Rover if we want high level Land Rover personnel to take notice and to use this forum as a monitoring source for customer satisfaction/dissatisfaction .

As I said - just my opinion. It doesn't offend me, and OFF TOPIC, people don't have to read it. But before long I can see someone taking offence at some of the personal remarks that have been made lately.

Also bear in mind that our kids (despite the warning banner) as Land Rover enthusiasts, also access this forum.

No offence intended to any of those taking part. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

We intend no offence, but a few members letting off steam and having a bit of light-hearted banter is what the Off Topic section is actually designed for. Moderators intervene on the rare occasion that the line is crossed and I have no problem having a bit a laugh with few like-minded individuals. It's only harmless fun.., I really cant see a problem with the content and the whole forum would be a poorer place without it. no offence is intended and as Brian said we are letting off steam. Yes this forum has been at a very personal level so much so that two members have publicly humiliated their partners without them knowing. That is personal! The two members have also publicly apologised too. But everybody had fun at their expense! If you want to talk about dodgy content look at the jokes, that can be more offensive. I understand that youngsters may look at this but, when they do they are met with a barrage of abuse and basically told to go and play in the playground, this included some moderators. That is offensive and on occasion some comments to them provoked the youngster to swear on this forum site. Is that not offensive. Perhaps the term friendlier wolves springs to mind.

when comments become personal to a particular member for example Envoy, as his long suffering wife, sorry devoted, he retorts with merriment and enjoys the participation, he is not offended. Allot of things are spoken about regarding the RRS and Land rover must be extremely proud of the product as we are and that as owners we wish to chat about it. But they also see that we have a sense of humour and that it is not all about the machine. I understand your comments and i think you are right and Brian. As a female on this site and an RRS owner i find great pleasure in chatting to you and only wish more of you would take part rather than sit on the side lines and say nothing!

No offence has been taken.

Aljo, Brian, Pussy

I am not too bothered about the content of this post but to give you an example (without wanting to dig an even bigger hole for myself) perhaps you could take a look at page 7 of 'FFRR TDV8 on Friday' (therefore likely to be read by as a RRS topic) which although posted in OFF TOPIC by Doc, probably should have been placed in the GENERAL section. Personally I don't think the Doc's wife would be very pleased to read the content and I don't suppose he was particularly impressed with the statements made either - but I may be wrong and talking out of turn here.

Like many others, I'm sure, I really enjoy most of the "light hearted banter" but in my opinion sometimes it goes a bit too far when it gets personal - like the example above. I'm not really into JOKES but I would think that they rarely, if ever, aimed at people in a personal manner.

To summarise. I probably chose the wrong topic to voice my opinion - 'FFRR TDV8 on Friday' would have been better. It is good for us all to air our different opinions and as I have taken on board the points that you have all made, I'm sure you have done likewise. So please carry on with the 'light hearted banter' but just be careful of it offending the person it is aimed at.

Pussy:

It's great to have a female posting on here, but even with the, sometimes, confusing name of Jo, you are alone! I have enjoyed joining in on our "little banter" - be it not quite like what you might have expected! I will most certainly take up your offer to join in in the future.

We interrupt this broadcast to bring you a moderator comment:

1. This IS a family site, so please keep the swear words to a minimum - star out or use the Censored emoticon. I don't like having to spend time editing posts when I logon in the morning when I could be taking part instead.
2. This is the off topic section, but even so isn't a free-for-all area so please be aware of what you are saying, even if it is meant in the spirit of the traditional forum banter (which, granted, can be taken as somewhat eye-opening for those who are new visitors).
3. We are all adults and it shouldn't be left to us mods to police everything. You know the limits - please stick to them.
4. Last on the list, but by no means the least important. Our Esteemed Leader, Martin, has his name attached to this site as well as the others in his empire and he is forever trying to make them viable financially. The point Jo made earlier about LR taking this site seriously should also be made in terms of potential sponsors. Without forum sponsors and donations, these sites will cease to exist, so please bear in mind that although this is a "free" site for us to use, it costs Martin money for us all to have somewhere to partake in the banter. I'd suggest a modicum of respect for that too and not make it unnecessarily difficult for him.

All clear? Good! Thumbs Up

And a PS:

Brian/Aljo - please can you not use the quote button quite so much? You only really need to use it when you're responding to something that isn't in the previous post. It duplicates my job of editing your swearing, you bunch of Censored s Wink

Oh dear! I seem to have 'rocked the boat' a bit here.

So now you have to read the 'BANTER' post. Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

good afternoon rrsjo.

I do not spend a great deal of time on the forum as i have a company to run and a home, Envoy just attends both. Whistle I do not post on the technical side of the forum as hubby has already done so, no point their. I settle down about 8.30pm after the domestics are done, (putting Envoy over my shoulder and burping him). I enjoy the fact that people on here have grown to know the sense of humour of each other and play accordingly. I have fallen of the chair a couple of times and have waited with eagerness for the response. All of which have been taken in great sport and lets face it, Envoy deserves a medal, he has the butt sorry, is the butt of all jokes. Thanks to Landlord and the piccy. All hail Envoy Bow down

It is a shame i am the minority on here, as a wench but, i have fun with all of you and hubby at the same time. Unlike, i imagine some wives who may sit in the room with hubby, while he grunts at here conversation and they both sit in moderate silence while he is focused on this forum and her moaning he is on here again.

I have a wicked sense of humour and giggle and titter most nights. (When i put envoy in his romper suit.)
I am nothing like the venom spitting ball breaking, verbal murderer as previously portrayed, well ok a bit when the situation arises. when you are on the forum it easy to be brave and say what you like as the possibilities of you ever meeting the people are relatively slim but, it must be remembered that even though we do not know each other it is easy to go too far. I agree with your comments and everybody else's. But i feel that the banter should continue as this with all of the topics keeps this forum alive and Martin and the mods do have a thankless job and also deserve a pat on the back.
