Forward Alert and ACC

For those that have this feature, how are you getting on with it?

Sometimes I find the ACC wonderful, when I am not bothered about my pace, I let the car drive itself and maintain a speed behind the slow B%stard in front.

However, sometimes the radar beam obviously detects something not directly in your path, like a slow lorry to your left ahead and JAMS on the brakes, making you look a tit and other drivers left wondering what the HELL you are playing at.

If you don't get the timing right for overtaking you can also end up in a situation where you indicate and pull out into the outside lane (with faster appraching traffic coming from the rear) and the radar detects the rear corner of the vehicle in front and makes a snap decision to brake. So, to other road users they see a Range Rover Sport make an overtaking manoeuvre and then slam on the anchors for no reason at all.

It must look bizarre...

And Forward Alert, has anyone actually found a use for this yet? I just cannot see the point at all. L319 D4 HSE

forward alert is kind of usefull in trafic, when you are just sitting there day dreaming and the guy infront of you comes to a compleate stop without you noticing forward alert will wake you up.

Increase the the forward alert range and the ACC to a wider gap and you will be in a better position. I always accel slighty as I overtake and you will override the ACC untill you pass the car infront and resume normal ACC operation 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE
