My local council has just introduced a pay and display parking system in my local area. They charge 50p an hour, not much but a pain. Today I paid for an hour and as usual I checked the return coin slot, in there was a token. I put 2 & 2 together and put the token in the machine, it gave me an hour of free parking and the best part of this story is that the token gets returned each time!

Well from some of the folks that I see with their "spacehopper" stickers inside their car I would like to know how "disabled" you have to be because most of them around here look frightenly fit and most seem to be businessmen with offices in the city centre and no parking near to their offices! In Stirling they have now made the pedestrian precinct totally car free by placing powered bollards across both ends of the main street - now you have to drive the bin wagon or be a councillor to park in the pedestrian precinct as you have to have a special card to activate the bollards............................and they don't give them out willy nilly like they used to! The pedestrian precinct is now car free all day long thank goodness, as before there were times when there would be so many cars with "disabled" stickers on them there was no room for "able bodied" folks to walk on the pavement! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Not yet VA, but I'll let you know when I do so you can borrow it. My mother has one as she cannot walk very far and it is a very useful piece of paper I can assure you - not only can you park dangerously where ever you like or park in pedestrian precincts and on double yellow lines without getting a ticket but you can use toll roads/bridges/tunnels etc without having to pay the toll on many of them - there's more to a disabled sticker than meets the eye! Only drawback is that the permit holder has to be with you....... so if you want to chauffeur me around London in your RRS then that's not a problem with me! Move on driver............ BTW I rarely get to use it so have to park safely in normal slots and pay full fare to park! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

Further good news - if you insert the token first and then add money you can have free parking all day if you want! |
