Well we all know that you have to pay extra to have offroad capablity in the M Class these days, but what about all the other stuff that is standard on the RRS that you pay extra for in both an X5 and the Merc, I have been comparing both with RRS recently and in the UK to have a large capacity diesel engined Merc,BM or VW/Audi is a "no brainer" as our colonial friends would say. When you bring the German cars up to the same spec level as the "basic" spec of the RRS you are looking at at least £5000 MORE to get the same spec. So I'm about to sign up for another RRS but a TDv8 HSE this time. But I also happen to be about the worst person you could ask to compare anything with a Land Rover product, I'm nearly as biased as the German motoring mags! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

I do not consider it a bribe. I just think that it is nice when someone gives a small token of their appreciation of their efforts. I worked on the other side of the counter, once upon a time and it really does make a difference when a customer comes in with a bottle of wine, doughnuts, cake etc etc etc. I will give an example: Customer who I got on with very well has an Audi RS4 that needed a complete air-conditioning system put in along with a new ECU. Customer has purchased it second hand and it is outside the manufacturers warranty time. Customer finds an extended warranty form from previous owner but the form states that this is only applicable to the owner of the car and not the car itself. Basically the current owner is not covered and will have to fork out thousands. I call extended warranty company, take 45mins to convince them that they should honour the warranty as it has 3 months left and the previous owner has moved abroad with no contact address so cannot be refunded the outstanding amount. The company actually agree to cover all parts and labour for the repairs!!! Another customer (a complete arse) and very rude to-boot, has his cambelt snap 2 months outside warranty. He goes mad, I just smile tell him there is nothing I can do and that my hands are tied by warranty. End result, he paid for the lot. All the first customer ever gave us was politeness and a pleasant demeanour, the second was a rude-tit. Result was first customer had thousands of pounds worth of parts and work for free due to my efforts, the second customer was thousands of pounds down due to my inaction. I did not HAVE to help either of them but I chose to help the former and the latter I just followed my instructions to the letter! |

Ok let me add some words here..arround 220 km/hr was my top speed in RRS, between 160 & 180 km/hr is says lower and u really feel the car is stable and controllable, It’s not like a real sport car (my previews Evo but considering it’s weight and size it’s amazing and well engineered 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged, Buckingham Blue, Ivory converted to HST Silver SOLD-V8 Defender 90 |

I can vouch for its ability to sustain 130MPH for long stretches of autobahn in complete comfort. Working as a sports tourer is what the car does best in my opinion. Well, that and climbing icy mountain roads, or looking smart outside a hotel once you get there!
