I know what you're saying Josh but the facts speak for themselves - women's life expectancy is greater than man. Remember all these life insurance companies are either member owned or shareholder owned and have to pay for themselves, part of living in a capitalist country. I have no problem with it. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I'm with you on this one Josh. Equality should be a two-way street: correctly, no male preference allowed in the workplace so no anti-male discrimination with anything else.., INCLUDING SHIELA'S BLOODY FEMINIST WHEELS!!! I think you'll find the less life expectancy you have the better the annuity rate is. If you smoke you will get a better deal than a non smoker and if you have a medical condition such as diabetes or heart problems you qualify for impaired life rates, so you are best to use your open market option to get the best deal. Of course it goes without saying you should see your friendly IFA!! |

Josh are you comparing like with like? I don't know of a situation where a woman would get a better deal on a like for like basis. If a woman is the same age, same health, same fund size, no GARs, same company she would get less than the man. I don't do a lot of pension work, IHT is my thing, but I spoke to the head of our annuity bureau to confirm this and the company is the second biggest IFA in the UK now so they do! |
