Front differential

I need to replace or rebuild the front diff on my 2.7 rrs . Does anyone know if a 3.0 tdv6 is the same diff, provided ratio is correct that is?

Thanks
Nick

According to the workshop manual they are the same ratio 3.54:1 provided it comes from a vehicle with the 6 speed transmission (6HP28), the 8 speed ratio is 3.21:1, don't know whether the complete unit is interchangeable between models though, although saying that, some of the part numbers for the complete assembly appear to be the same for both models.

Cheers
Col

finally got the front diff out ...what a PIA the ACE roll bar is Shocked ....
split the diff and found it to be very rusty. bearing in mind i had done the oil recently it was very brown. the crown and pinion and the planet gears are quite yellow coloured stained. not sure if that's a result of the rusty oil?. anyway the pinion side out put bearing is pitted so I've pulled that and got a pair of timken bearings and cones to do both sides. the other side doesn't seem to bad.
the pinion feels like it still has pre load and is smooth so i wasn't going to touch that.

my question is , do you think anything else could have suffered as a result of the rusty oil. i was going to fit the two out put bearings/seals and put it back in?

thoughts please?

cheers
Nick

I'm sure I remember there was a tsb for the diff casings inner surface treatment failing, its kind of a Teflon coating, maybe worth checking?
