James I was in town for a medical and having flown into Glasgow from Hamburg the night before and swapped suitcases and hopped on a BA A320 to T5 on Wednesday lunch time and picked up a "travellers bug" and sufering a severe reaction to a Yellow Fever vacination there is no way I was in a fit state to visit you, although with 3 hours to kill at T5 when I was coming home at 9 last night the thought did cross my mind to come a spread the lurgy around your staff so they could have some time off

I must say that T5 is a staggering building and a shoppers paradise as just about every designer name is there on two levels of vast shopping mall, but, if as I did last night, you want somewhere quiet to sit in misery, coughing and spluttering, sweating out Yellow Fever Vaccine in a nice peaceful corner then you are right out of luck, screaming kids and boombox music seems to be everywhere. I have a Priority Pass card to use the lounges but BA won't let you in at T5 unless you are a First, Club World or Executive Club member...................... I also wasn't impressed with the BAA security - 1000's of passengers waiting and only 2 security desks open at each end of the huge building and in the middle - queues outside the doors and into the check in area. That isn't BA's fault that is the dim wits in Madrid who haven't invested enough in training sufficient staff to be able to open all the desks. Also at the actual gate down to the plane they were having problems with the webcam things that check your ID to make sure that you get on the right plane. I feel very sorry for BA, they are getting a lot of flack, but apart from my flights last night costing less than easyJet to Luton I would not have gone by BA and will not travel long haul with them until I can be sure that my bags will arrive with me on the same plane. After-all they keep telling us that it "is impossible to travel without your own checked luggage for security reasons these days" My gear missed me on quite a few occassions flying BA, which is one reason why I now prefer to go KLM via Schipol (also I get airmiles with KLm that BA won't give me because my company buys the tickets - with KLM I get my full allowance and 45kgs of luggage for free................... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I’m a frequent long haul traveller myself and the fact you state about baggage having to travel with you and then you ending in country without your baggage has always baffled me. |
