United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Giverney Green
Extended Warranties

It has been sometime since I have visited the site. I just turned 40K miles on my RRS and find myself thinking about an extended warranty. With that said, are there any of you out there that have similar if not higher mileage and what are your thoughts on extended warranties.

I have friends that own dealerships here in the US and they have candidly shared that they are a "looser" for the consumer. I am inclined to agree however, RRS are not the cheapest when it comes to parts and labor.

Thanks for your input...

It's all about risk isn't it.... extended warranties are worth their weight in gold if you find that when you car turns 3 it decides to celebrate by blowing its engine up Wink Look at it like this.... it's a LR: what are the chances something expensive will happen to it at some point during it's post-warranty life? Not sure how extended warranties work in the US and whether they'd be any different to here - but if it was me, I'd be considering taking it out.

This is a subject extensively discussed on disco3 and something I have been thinking about recently as my RRS is 3 years old in a couple of months. There is no right or wrong. The cost of the LR extended warranty in the UK is in the region of £1k - do you think that your car will need this much work in a year? It all depends on what your history is with the car.

I will not be taking the LR warranty out, I will look at 3rd party warranties. If something does go wrong I will not use a LR main dealer but a LR specialist.

Fingers crossed. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

VA - is that for sure on the price of the warranty or is it on a case by case basis based upon the history of the car and engine type? 2022 P440e AB

The warranty is fixed and not car specific. Cost quoted £1256.00 with LR assist. £1093 without.

I will probably not take this out. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Nice one. Thanks.

Seems alot of money for LR Assist. Anyhoo.... I have a friend that was quoted £1800 for a full fat RR. He turned it down and the gear box failed. £4k but LR split it with him 50/50.... Big Cry 2022 P440e AB

I actually think £163 for LR assist isn't too bad especially as you get a car if your RRS breaks down. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I expect that's the basic level though without Home Start and all the usual malarkey that you would want from a replacement to LRA.

What are people's experiences with the breakdown companies? I have always previously been with the RAC and no complaints with them (Like them because their vans are in Tangiers Orange! Thumbs Up ) Do any offer replacement cars? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I pay something like £175 for 4 people in the household with the AA.
Includes Home Start, towage anywhere etc.

I called them out for my "run around" last week and got a local contractor. He was very good though. 2022 P440e AB
