What's that on the air intake

Saw a supercharged this weekend and on the air intake on the bumper was an extra bit with something like smc written on it. As a diesel owner I don't have one of these but if it's good I want one whatever it is - please let me know if I should have one, want one or demand one. It was about 6 inches long (no jokes please!) offset to the passenger side (I think!) 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

It could just be the adaptive cruise control thing. It says ACC on it

That's correct and exactly what it is.

It is the radar box for the Adaptive Crusie Control

You can see it on this picture of the front of my car and can just about see the ACC on it.
