It's hidden, just like any other (permanent) Tracking Device Smile So it does take a lot of time for the dealership, when you want to take a car for a Test Drive Wink

Why not just fit a permanent tracker to the test cars in the first place?

I think it would be pretty expensive for the dealership to put tracking devices in all of their testcars. Wink

If it's gonna go missing it's gonna go missing with one or not

I think most dealers these days always do accompanied test drives these days and it makes sense anyway - you need someone there to bounce questions off when you're doing it and so that they can "sell" the car to you. That said, it's good to get out and have a blast on your own which you might not feel so inclined to do if you have a salesperson sitting next to you Wink I've had both accompanied and unaccompanied.

Me too! Thumbs Up

Many years ago, I test drove an Audi S3 and scared the s Censored t out of the young sales guy around some pretty damn twisty country lanes.

Could see him gripping the seat very tightly with his hands and his backside! Rolling with laughter Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

The Dealer I got my RRS from was not allowed to loan out cars overnight as a previous test driver didn't return one of the first demo RRS's they had on time. Apparently when they got it back from the Police pretty much every panel had been damaged. Turned out the guy who borrowed it was a drug runner - although he allegedly presented well, and gave them his license to check etc etc.

I was though offered the loan of a RRS all day (so 8 to 6) Mon to Fri, or for up to 2 hours on a Sat, all unaccompanied by anyone from the dealer. I opted for a very extended lunch time drive during the week and the dealer even ferried it to and from my office for me!

Interestingly BMW let me borrow one of the new X5's overnight (when they were pretty much just launched) in an attempt to persuade me to go for that instead of the RRS.

I've also had friends borrow demo cars for a whole week when they are in buying mode - Volvo XC90, Mazda RX7 and Audi TT are the make and models I specifically remember!
