Kaspersky Internet Security

Just got rid of the 'Boil on the bum' Norton Internet Security and changed to Kaspersky and I have to say it is brilliant.

I already have it installed on my work laptop and have now put it on our home PC.

First scan I ran after installing and updating highlighted 3 trojan worm things which Norton had missed. Now there's a worry!!!!

Also, when we used to switch the PC on it would take at least 5 mins before Norton would let us do anything it was soooooo slow!

Kaspersky comes with a glowing reference from me (But I aint no expert!) Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

It's quite well regarded in the industry - I hear a lot of people of complain about Norton too, but I use it at home and have deployed in several companies too without these performance problems. It's always worth having two AV tools for a second opinion too, although you should only run one as your "on-access" scanner as running more than one at a time can cause problems.

Kaspersky compared to other softwares is in my opinion is great...low system resource and a good anti virus i still use Norton in work on multiple machines but use the corparate version which is alot quicker and resource friendly than the Retail version.

Jay - Had wireless but when we upgraded to our GBP£185 per month business broadband they disabled it for some reason... Confused

Shmoogle - We have to get what we can here! No corporate version anywhere otherwise i would have paid for that!

Already since installing Kaspersky we have had 4 intrusion warnings. Never had one with Norton which on reflection is a bit of a worry! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Chaps,

Follow the above link and you will find all the internet security you will ever need for your PC - and it is free. I have been using the suggested top rated freeware for firewall, antivirus, anti malware & desktop cleaning utilities for over two years and have never had a scan of my machine pick up any malicious content after the first sweeps / clearances.

A very good tip I picked up from this site is that most users access the internet through the main admin account on the machine - most malware / virus traffic needs admin rights to your machine to install itself - solution: set yourself up another account on the machine and don't give it admin rights - use that account to do your surfing and if you do inadvertently download something it can't install itself onto the machine as it does not have the rights to do so.

The ethos is that prevention is better than cure.

I haven't paid for internet security in over two years and have not had a single issue! Any one wants more info - PM me. Wink
