I agree with Paul that it looks pretty stunning in the flesh (Metal) but if you don't like them, you don't like them.

I was paraphrasing TopGear. They had some kind of poll when JC bought his SL55 and the result was that they were bought by (wealthy) hairdressers. Wink

I was joking Jay Smile

It's a cracking engine, but I prefer my sports cars a little more hard core, hence the Cobra Thumbs Up

But is the R8 not AMV8 money???

R8 list price £76,825

AM V8 list £82,800

So not far off. looking at that i'd without doubt pay the extra...

..and get a Gallardo even though apparantly it doesn't look like a car... Rolling Eyes Wink

All well stating the R8's list but my mate who works for Audi UK says that very few come out under around 85k, were as the AMV8 has a reasonable spec included. Forgetting the price, the R8 is a really really beautiful car (so is the AMV8!)

Re the SL55, Amazing engine, just a shame the rest of the car is as TG says a bit hairdressers, add a manual or a proper sequential gearbox and take away a few of the OTT options and then it would be a better car. (just my matter of opinion! Wink ) RRS TDV8 HSE 2007- JAVA Black/Black interior,

Very true. Most add the magnetic dampers, e-gear etc and end up nearer £90k!!

Oh yeah, and the carbon fibre engine bay treatment which is a flaming rip off too!

I produced a video for a client of mine featuring an R8 at Christmas.
See:

(search for Milltek R8 if link no work!)

I thought the car was ace (sounded awesome with Milltek exhaust too!!). Truth though - for the money I would'nt buy one. The kind of price over list they're fetching at the mo (ive heard rumours of people paying around £100k!), that puts the car into GT3 bracket....

I know its a different class of car, but if I was in the Audi dealership with my cash, I would opt for an RS4 (same engine, arguably better image(?), and space for my kids!)

so there.
