My Opinion

Well my SC has been in the dealers since Friday with a brake pedal switch failure, so I have had the opportunity to drive a D3 on loan and then a new FFRR V8D.

My opinion

D3 HSE lovely looking car, loads of room I could live in it, took it to Wembley to watch the Crusty Demons (go and see them fantastic show) return great MPG, unfortunately it couldn't accelerate fast enough to pull the skin off a rice pudding, once it was up and running a nice car.

FFRR V8D Fantastic car brought the real RR feel all back, great MPG, accelerated 100% better than the D3, a bit old hat now though. but still a great car.

I had been looking to swap for a D3, then to the FFRR V8D but returning to the dealer this evening and getting back into my SC my world changed what a Censored great car handles, drives, noise, looks and poor Censored MPG in all the best package. would not sell her for any of the above but I would for a G55.

Misery - with regards to the D3 I agree with you. Even though the RRS is based on a D3 it is a far superior drive. As an owner of both Mrs VA and I always want the RRS over the D3. Mrs VA is no driving expert but knows what she likes and she notices the better driving experience with the RRS. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

True, Misery... it's when you have a go in all three like that that you see why the different cars exist.

RRS = sporty drive
FFRR = top end spec
D3 = good practicality for all that tarmac

Thumbs Up

Now, if only they'd trim the RRS up to the FFRR levels...

They ought to, but I suspect they'd be worried about losing sales of the biggy. I think there is room for a both, time will tell. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Josh G55 is the only way to go but my second choice would be the RRS TDV8 over the FF any day.

Angel how could you not love it!!!!

shmoogle your righ to the FF interior is a great place to be but as i have been there and done it if you know what I mean I will have to wait and see what's next. If I can't borrow enough money for a G55 Shocked Shocked , I will wiat and see if LR bring out something to compete with the new BMW X6 as I really like the look of that. But don't tell anyone I said I like BMW Wink Very Happy Wink Very Happy

No it's not ! Very Happy Very Happy

Have test driven a X5 3.0sd with all the goodies this morning and have to admit that I was mightily impressed. The perfect car from whatever side you look at it, unless one really needs serious offroad capability, but who really does (sorry VA, you're the exception)! Never liked to old model's looks but the new shape is really growing on me!

My work here is complete Thumbs Up

It is a good car, the new X5 (as was the old one really) but as with most BMWs, I still think the RRS is better value given the toys etc (at least in the UK it is).

Yes Shmoogle, as far as I am concerned you could be right! Laughing

Value wise not over here, tough. Specced similarly price is about the same as a fully loaded TDV8 but the beemer will blow the RRS away no matter if it's on the Autobahn or up a twisty mountain pass, and fuel economy is much better. The car I drove had the so-called comfort seats and I have never ever sat in a more comfortable car seat, and, and, and, and...... SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

G55 rules! Bow down

I too like the new X5, there are a couple in Paphos and it has really grown on me too.

However, unlike Misery I think a FFRR may well be the way we go next, when RRS reaches its third B'day.
