its a good time to buy electronics equipment

PC World, Currys and Comet are currently selling at below cost on lots of equipment at the moment - I get the feeling they are in a bit of trouble Confused

I don't think they are in trouble, probably overstocked for what they thought would be a bumper Christmas that didn't happen so they have to clear old stock before new stuff arrives in the new year from the factories in the Orient. I noticed midweek in town that both BHS and Debenhams had 50% discount sales on - a week before Christmas........................... Also I think with the "credit crunch", property values on the slide and uncertainty in the financial world due to the massive hits being taken by banks involved with Subprime Loans in the USA folks are tending to keep their money to themselves. Also don't forget that a lot of people have just taken a huge tax hit with the abolition of the 10% tax rate which has meant that a lot of less well off folks now don't have any spare cash with their tax bills having gone up by 100% to 20% - another of Gordy Broon's clever ideas. Tim,

If you want to part of society then why should you be able to 'avoid' paying as much tax as employed individuals.

It's about time all these tax loopholes were closed....good on you Gordon Wink

Ginger as a higher rate tax payer, I agree entirely - but there are plenty of people who have made a full contribution to society all of their working life who were living on the breadline with 10% tax who are now very badly off because of those who are dishonest and because their pensions have not kept up. I do not condone tax dodging in the least. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It isn't tax but I heard on the news today that MP's are putting in for a 10% payhike next year - mainly because Labour MP's are scared stiff that if GB has an election they will be out of power and out of work but still get have FINAL SALARY pension scheme so they need to get their pension payments up........................ NOW to me that is abusing the tax system. Of course that pay/pension rise is on top of the tax free £18000 each MP who looses his seat gets to "tide him over" until he gets another job. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yet another reason why politicians (of any political persuasion) will never gain the respect of the people until they have to align with the taxation expectations of the rest of the working population. I appreciate fully the need for taxation and all that it does, but the constant grabbing of more and more money from the population makes me sick. The "tax" rant on TG last night was alarmingly accurate Crying or Very sad

Steve,

I've also been looking at a new plasma. As a matter of interest, what products are on your shortlist?
I've narrowed mine down to either a Pioneer 428DX or the slightly cheaper 4280DX.
I've seen the latter for £1,370.

I use my XBox 360. All my music is copied onto my PC and the Media Center on the XBox allows me to browse through it and play it through my digital amp. It works very well, it will also stream video that is stored on the PC.
My XBox is linked through wireless to the PC.
I used to use a Netgear music server, which also worked very well and only cost about £60.
